Today, you’ll learn everything you need to know about affiliate marketing for bloggers.

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money online because it doesn’t require almost any financial investment to start.

So, are you dreaming to start working from home? Maybe you are a mom and you want to take care of your kids while having an online income stream, or maybe you’re someone who just wants an extra hustle on a side?

If that’s you, blogging affiliate marketing could be the best way to go as a beginner.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a process of earning an affiliate commission from marketing, another person’s or another company’s products. You are someone who introduces products and services to others using any online platforms that you have and when a sale is made, you will earn a commission.

what is affiliate marketing

It can be a great way to make online income even for beginners, because the entry requirements are very low. You don’t have to think about creating your own product, you don’t have to market it or hire customer support. All of this is done by the company that offers the affiliate program.

All you have to do is share the information about the products or services with your online audience.

Now you may ask, but how does it technically work?

How Affiliate Marketing Works?

You get a unique affiliate link from the company that sells the product. Whenever someone clicks on your affiliate link, a cookie will be dropped into their browser. If they decide to make the purchase, the company that you’re affiliated with will know that the customer came from you and they will reward you for it.

How Much Affiliate Marketers Make?

Now how much money you can make as an affiliate marketer? According to PayScale, it’s a website where you can find reliable salary market data; an average annual affiliate marketing income is about $51,700.

average affiliate marketer salary

Those who are on the low-level affiliate markets, they can annually earn up to $37,000. But honestly, the sky is the limit when it comes to affiliate marketing.

For my blogging business, affiliate marketing is the first biggest income stream.

Affiliate Marketing Earnings

Usually, the biggest chunk of my affiliate income comes from the companies that offer products and services in the online marketing space.

This screenshot below is for Builderall; online business software that I promote on my blog where I make around $19,000 in recurring commissions.

builderall affiliate earnings

And remember that your income will highly depend on how much and how effectively you promote a product. The price of the product and the size of your commission also can affect your income.

When you work with online courses, the commissions usually are very high, anywhere around 30 or 40% commission. The products are usually priced at least in the hundreds of dollars, sometimes even a few thousand dollars per customer.

How Do Affiliate Marketers Get Paid?

Now an affiliate marketer can get paid in 2 ways.

Pay per Sale

This is the standard and the most common way of getting paid through affiliate marketing. You’ll get paid a percentage of the sales price of the product that you’re promoting. Expensive products or programs that have higher commission rate are more interesting in this model because you then can make more money.

Pay per Lead

Here, an affiliate marketer has to convince the customer to visit the company’s or the merchant’s website and complete some kind of action. It could be signing up for their free challenge, subscribing to their newsletter, filling out a form or anything like this.

Through this, companies will track every action done by the customer and you will get paid a fixed commission per lead. But I will be honest, in most of the affiliate programs, they typically will use pay per sale model. Pay per lead is less common, but I actually had an experience with one company that paid me for the same campaign, the both things.

They paid me per sale and also, they paid me a $2 commission for each lead. Meaning that I also got paid for anyone who just signed up for their email list and not necessarily even purchased the product that time around.

You might ask me, why would they want to pay me the $2 per lead if these users didn’t purchase the product? Well, that’s because those leads were people who showed some kind of interest in the product.

Something didn’t work out. Maybe they didn’t have the funds or the time to use the product when I made the promotion, but they will remain on their email list and so they can keep sending them emails later.

And definitely a certain percentage of those leads will eventually purchase the product. They can also work as affiliate marketers themselves, and they can send to those people, to those leads other offers at a later time.

You see, they paid me $2 per lead, and this is actually a pretty low-cost warm audience for them, because if they try to get the same people through Facebook ads for example, they would likely pay at least 7, 10, or sometimes even $30 per lead. Depends on the niche really.

Now, a few tips for you that will help you start making money with affiliate marketing.

1. Find Your Niche

First, find your niche. An affiliate marketer success highly depends on how convincing and persuasive they are in marketing a product. This means that before choosing a product or service to promote, you must have at least a bit of knowledge on what the product is and what category or niche it falls under.

Is it lifestyle, is it tech, travel, beauty?

And next, you should ask yourself, which of those niches you are interested in? You will not be able to successfully promote a beauty or let’s say a skincare product if you do not know anything about the brand or you have no low-cost idea what the product is used for.

So, keep in mind that the product you will promote is something that you’re genuinely interested in. Remember, you cannot fool everyone, especially people who already know something about the niche, about the topic, and they made some research before they found your information.

2. Find an Affiliate Product To Promote

Now, step number two is find great affiliate products to promote. Depending on your niche, you will promote different types of products.

Physical Products

If you are in home decor niche, you will likely create content that features multiple affiliate products per post and then you will give links to each product, let’s say from Amazon associates or from reward style platform.

On Amazon, you would likely be looking at the products that have great reviews to make sure that people actually buy those products and don’t just leave Amazon page immediately disappointed with your recommendation.

amazon product reviews

And when you search for products on reward style platform, for example, they have this high commission label on of the products, and they’re usually from large and known stores like Walmart, Target, Home Depot and others.

So, this is the filter that you can use when you create content around the affiliate product.

But the issue with promoting physical products through Amazon, or maybe other networks, is that commissions are often very low; anywhere from just 1% commission, seriously, that applies to some products categories on Amazon and maybe about to 10% maximum.

So, it’s really a huge commission, but because the products are in a lower price range, usually below $50 or below $100, it’s relatively easy for consumers, just pick up their credit card and actually make the purchase right away, coming from your affiliate link.

Digital Products

When you promote digital products, for example, online courses, especially those courses that are in the higher price range, commissions are usually higher. I said already, anywhere between 30 and 40% commission, and plus the products usually cost at least several hundred dollars, sometimes thousands of dollars.

So, if you think it’s easier to promote high ticket products or recurring affiliate programs, you might be quite wrong about it because it takes a lot more effort to promote them.

It’s not enough to just drop a link from a blog post or two. You have to educate your audience for this product, build trust through your free content and do it consistently so that when you have something to share as an affiliate, they would know all about your values and they would see why you’re recommending this product.

3. Sign Up for Affiliate Programs

Depending on your niche, you might need to work with some products directly. Like for example, in case of online courses or maybe big service companies, they will often have their own platforms for you to sign up.

Private Affiliate Programs

Private affiliate programs will handle the tracking, reporting and payments to the affiliates. The variety of private affiliate programs and brands that you can find on this affiliate networks could range from high end brands like Dior, Gucci or Indie brands and some individual e-commerce websites.

But in many other niches, looking for individual companies that offer affiliates partnerships can be very time consuming.

This is why affiliate networks exist.

Affiliate Networks

The main role of affiliate networks is to give you access from one place to different brands and companies that offer affiliate partnerships.

affiliate marketing networks

Some popular affiliate networks include:

  • AWIN
  • Amazon associates
  • CJ affiliates
  • Sharesale
  • ClickBank
  • Flexoffers
  • Rakuten
  • Digistore24

And there are many more, but I just mentioned the ones that I try to work with for different products.

And the possibilities and choices are endless when it comes to affiliate marketing.

4. Start an Affiliate Marketing Blog

Starting your own blog is probably one of the most effective ways to be successful in affiliate marketing.

First of all, it builds a bond and trust between you and your audience since you can share your opinions and reviews about the products that you’re promoting.

Second, there is a chance that your blog or your blog post will rank organically in engines. And that means when people search about your product that you are promoting, there is a possibility that your blog post will appear high in search results.

And another benefit is that once your blog gets more successful, affiliate opportunities will eventually come to you. You do not have to search for them.

Companies always go to established online influencers to promote and review their products. What you just need to focus on is your writing skills and how persuasive you are when promoting this product.

When you are done writing the content, you just need to add your unique affiliate link to the content whenever you mention the product.

Sounds easier, right?

And if you are worried about starting a blog, then don’t worry because it doesn’t cost much at all. In fact, you can start an affiliate blog from just $3 month with Bluehost that also gives you a free domain.

Starting an affiliate blog is not difficult either. it comes down to a few simple steps.

Select a CMS

The first step is to select your CMS which stands for content management system. And you have a options like:

  • WordPress.org
  • WordPress.com
  • Joomla
  • Drupal
  • HubSpot CMS

There are many more options but for affiliate blogging business, the best option is WordPress.org which is free to use platform.

WordPress is the most popular content management system on the world that empowers 34% of all websites on the internet.

WordPress Statistics

It’s a platform that helps you build your website and manage it without needing to write code and do complicated tech things.

A user interface to help you customize functionality, configure your website, and manage content. The best news is that it’s all free, works very well, and has an endless amount of plugins.

Basically, WordPress makes it possible for you to build an affiliate marketing blog without being a total computer geek.

Choose a Domain Name

There are a lot of things to consider when buying a domain. At this point, I don’t want to overcomplicate it too much, the advanced course however will cover this in-depth.

But if you still want to ask yourself these questions, you can try to figure out:

  • Brand or keyword domain?
  • Local or global brand?
  • Which TLD? .com, .net, .org, .local or something else?
  • Buy an available domain or purchase premium?

There are no laws or rules on how to go about choosing a domain name. Again, something abstract where we need to do our own thinking.

I’ll try to give you some general ideas though, so you’ll understand what we’re looking for in a nutshell.

What to avoid

  • Avoid confusing or complicated names.
  • Stay away from names that might sound clever to insiders, but no one really understands when they hear it the first time.
  • Aavoid long names: no more than 20 characters. The shorter the better.
  • Avoid “-” in your domain name.

What to strive for

  • Simple and familiar names that people can understand easily are often the most successful. Such as Amazon, as opposed to Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  • Make sure you can say the name out loud and it still feels good. For the sake of creating a brand (and people coming back to your site), it’s a good idea to make it easily pronounceable.
  • A name that explains what the site is about is a good bonus. You’re more likely to click “webhostingreviews.com” if you’re indeed looking for web hosting reviews.
  • Names that trigger emotions are extra powerful. If you’re Googling because your cat is sick, then you bump into the site “catrescue.com”, would that feel relevant?

Select a Host Provider

For blogging affiliate marketing I highly suggest Bluehost which recommended by WordPress itself.

bluehost wordpress

It’s currently the lowest cost hosting option and very simple to get up and running with.

The Bacis package includes a free domain and SSL for less than $3 per month, so it’s pretty good value for money.

Install WordPress Plugins

A plugin is an extension of functionality to your WordPress site. There are plugins for nearly everything, and usually, you will find the functionality you need without paying a dime for it.

What plugins you need is up to you, and depends on the functionality you need for your website.

Valuable plugins

Here are some recommended plugins that everyone should consider using:

  • Yoast SEO. Helps you optimize titles, descriptions, and other aspects of SEO.
  • Pretty Link. Turns your affiliate links into nicer URLs, which helps to increase conversion.
  • Loco Translate. If you want to translate strings in your theme.
  • TablePress. If you want to create more advanced tables (affiliate product lists for example).
  • WP Supercache. A cache plugin that speeds up your site.
  • Contact Form 7. Create beautiful forms for people to contact you.

How to install a plugin?

  • Go to Plugins on the left menu in WordPress admin, “Add new” and choose the plugin you want to install.
  • Click “Install Now”, and then “Activate”.
  • The plugin will now be enabled. You might have to change settings.

5. Write Affiliate Articles

It’s fundamental to become a good writer since you’re going to be reviewing and giving detailed information about the products and services you’re promoting, as well as convincing your visitors to take action.

It’s an essential skill to learn if you want to convert your readers into buyers.

Not to mention the importance of ranking well in search engines.

Providing your visitors with useful content is the easiest way to provide some type of value when you start out as an affiliate.

But remember: good content alone is not going to make you dominate your niche. Your goal with time should be to build complex functionality and in other ways create USP (unique selling proposition) for your visitors.

But this probably isn’t something you can do just yet. Unless you’re a programmer or have the money to hire one already.

Content writing will be the best way to you can provide value and rank highly in search engines at this stage, and an essential skill to have later on too.

Find Your Audience

Your audience is everything, so it would be silly to ignore what your audience is actually like. Too many copywriters, however, do this mistake and write content for themselves, not for their audience.

The best performing websites know who they are writing to.

No matter your niche, you always have to figure this out. If you know who your content is targeting, you’ll have a much better understanding of how to write.

If you are writing for a younger audience, it makes sense to use more slang, memes or humour in your content.

It wouldn’t make sense in a relationship advice blog (unless humorous advice is your particular approach to that niche).

The importance of knowing your audience can’t be stressed enough.

Just sit down and think what your readers are like. What do they like to do in their spare time? What lifestyle do they have? You can research forums and social media to understand them better.

Structure Your Article

Next, outline all the points you want to cover in your article. You can write down a plain structure with placeholder subheadings that you can replace with better and snappier subheadings later.

By writing down the subheadings and structuring your content, you’ll understand easily what you need to add or how the structure could make more sense.

After writing the subheadings, start filling in the “gaps” and write about the thoughts you had for those subheading.

When you build a nice structure first, you’ll avoid the horrendous writer’s block and you’ll be sure you’re covering all the points you had in mind.

This way you can also use all the related keywords in the right places instead of worrying if you actually used them or not.

When building the structure, keep in mind:

  • Use H2 header tags (1-10 per peice of content, depending on the length).
  • Divide the H2’s with H3’s. For example, if your H2 is “The features of a cordless drill”, then the H3’s can be particular features, like speed and power. Keep the structure logical.
  • If one section seems to get too long, try to divide it up further.
  • When filling the “gaps” with your paragraphs, don’t write big blocks of text – keep your sentences concise and don’t use more than 3-4 sentences per paragraph.
  • You can write your introduction last – introductions should captivate the reader and make them want to read the rest of the content. A good introduction sums up the main point of the content or asks a question that will be answered further in the content.

6. Optimize Your Affiliate Blog For SEO

If you’re new to the whole internet marketing thing, you’re probably one of the many people who hear about search engine optimization without having a clue what it is or how to go about it.

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is a marketing discipline that focuses on increasing the online visibility of a site or page in the organic search results.

This can include a combination of creative and technical elements with varying results, but all with the goal of improving the site’s natural ranking on search engines.

Do you need SEO for your affiliate website?

One of the questions people ask about SEO is whether they need it for their website. Well, that depends.

Do you want a steady flow of organic traffic to your site?

By organic, we mean you aren’t paying to have your website promoted on search engine results pages (SERPs).

Yes, you also have the option to use paid traffic to boost your search engine marketing through what’s called PPC (Pay-Per-Click).

But for those with no budget to commit to paid ads, you’ll need to stick with SEO. The great thing about SEO is that the traffic you build up is consistent and ideal for long-term goals. PPC is great for quick results, but the traffic won’t be as valuable over time.

Now that you understand what SEO is and how it differs from paid traffic, it’s time to learn some basic search engine optimization tricks for affiliate marketing.

Perfrom Keyword Research

Combining affiliate marketing with SEO relies heavily on finding products that have a great deal of search traffic. To find out what these products are, you’ll need to do keyword research.

No matter if you are just starting your site or you are writing content for an established site: keyword research comes first.

If you don’t have any topic ideas:

  1. Take a look at your favorite websites and their content to find some inspiration for subjects.
  2. Use content aggregators to find popular content that could inspire you.
  3. Check forums or sites like Quora or Reddit to see what topics interest people.

If you have a specific niche/main topic in mind:

  1. Open your keyword research tool of choice (it can be a free tool like Google Keyword Planner or something else).
  2. Type in your main keyword that you want to use in your content.
  3. Find related keywords and the exact keywords to use (which have the best keyword volume).
  4. You can also use tools like AnswerThePublic.com to generate long tail keywords.
  5. Pick the keyword you want to specifically target in your new piece of content – ideally, the keyword’s search volume should be at least 100, since then you know it’s a popular enough topic to generate some traffic for you (or hopefully some sales).

In general, before you open your website to start writing, you should plug your keyword to your preferred tool just so you can see what keywords are related to your topic or what keyword might be better to use.

Understand The Search Intent

It’s crucial you write for your particular audience based on what they’re searching for
and what they want to know, learn, or discover. That’s called search intent, and it’s
another crucial element of excellent content. There are four different types of search
intent, including:

  1. Navigational – when someone is searching for a specific page.
  2. Informational – the need for a specific answer to a query.
  3. Transactional – as when the user wants to complete an action like signing up for a newsletter.
  4. Commercial – using a free offering of a product, service, or information to attract
    potential customers

Build Links For Your Affiliate Blog

One of the most significant factors that must be considered when creating content is that backlinks are vitally important for good results. Indeed, most SEO experts put backlinks higher, importance-wise, than word count and keywords!

That’s because backlinks are crucial for pulling in all-important organic traffic. Organic traffic refers to a visitor who arrives on your website or blog due to their search results on Google and the other search engines.

In other words, it’s free traffic, which is the much more desirable opposite of paid traffic.

So organic traffic is what you want, and the way to get it is with backlinks. But, here’s the thing; 91% of all web pages get almost zero organic traffic because they have few backlinks.

In fact, nearly 56% of web pages don’t have a single backlink. That means there isn’t a single referring domain that points to them from somewhere else on the web.

That’s a huge problem, especially when you consider that the top results on Google’s SERP (aka search engine results page) have almost 4x the number of backlinks as the results below them.

In short, setting up backlinks to authoritative sources is a must if you want your content to rank highly on Google. It also provides an opportunity for many SMEs in that, simply by adding plenty of backlinks, they can outrank their competitors easily.

7. Start a YouTube Channel

This step is optional but YouTube channel is a great addition to your affiliate marketing blog where you can promote products or services by recommending them in your videos.

But you have to understand that you cannot just drop an affiliate link inside the video, like you can do on a blog post. It’s not as easy, but you can add your affiliate links in the description below the video.

And if you ask me, what do I think works better?

Is it a blog or a YouTube channel?

It’s definitely easier to write texts and add your links in the text then to record videos, and on top of it, there’s not a lot of space where you can put links from your videos.

But if you already have a blog and now you want to reach additional audience with your videos, then I have a great post for you that will help you start an affiliate YouTube channel from scratch and grow it to a thousand subscribers as fast as possible.

8. Create a Pinterest Account

Pinterest is one of the best traffic sources for affiliate marketing bloggers. This is another way that you can promote your affiliate links for free.

You need to know that Pinterest is not just a social media site, but it’s actually a search engine with over 478 million active users.

pinterest monthly users

It’s almost like Google. A little bit smaller, and it’s more visual search engine.

This means with the right keywords and SEO, when people search for the product that you’re promoting on Pinterest, there is a high chance that your pin will be at the top of the search result.

So just to clarify, you can add direct affiliate links to your pins. It’s allowed on Pinterest, and you have to make sure that your account doesn’t become just a collection of affiliate links only, because that could be considered spamy.

And if you’re just starting out, or maybe you already made an account on Pinterest, but you feel lost and you want to make money from this platform, then you can check out my Pinterest affiliate marketing guide.

9. Build an Email List

Another great strategy to build trust and communication between you and your audience is starting an email list.

Building an email list is one of the best ways to generate leads on your affiliate marketing blog.

You should treat your emails as mini blogs, I would say, because the approach will be almost the same as when you’re writing a blog review. But for emails, you should make them shorter and more direct to the point.

You can send out emails weekly, or if you want a couple of times a week or even daily. This means that you will be able to introduce more products to your audience and more frequently. This also gives an opportunity for your audience to reply back to you and ask more questions about the product, which in turn increases the chances for a sale.

In addition to that, always keep in mind that your email list is something that you control while with social media profiles, like with Instagram, YouTube, or Pinterest account – you don’t.

All of these platforms have algorithms in place and they decide which of your content should be shown to whom. And so not all of your followers will always see your posts with affiliate links.

On top of that, these platforms can literally take away from you all your work someday if they decide to change an algorithm or maybe to even ban your account. And with an email list, this doesn’t happen because you have direct access to the inbox of each user who signed up for your list.

Affiliate Marketing For Bloggers Final Words

To wrap it up, everything under the moon is now accessible with just a few clicks through the internet. So it goes for products, jobs, and income.

And if you are someone who is searching for a side hustle that can provide extra income, then seriously consider affiliate marketing. In fact, once you become successful, you can easily make this your full-time job and your main income stream.

In this affiliate marketing lead generation guide, you’re going to learn 7 solid lead generation strategies for attracting, converting leads for your affiliate business.

As we dive into these strategies for finding your ideal customers and then of course converting them into leads in your affiliate marketing funnel, we need to talk about 2 keys to success.

Lead Generation Target Audience

When it comes to lead gen, the goal is not to cast a very wide net. The goal is to be very focused on the specific type of customer or prospect that you are looking for.

And that’s actually going to increase your conversions and as a result; affiliate sales.

You really don’t have to worry about trying to connect with anyone who might be a good fit.

You want to try and connect with that one person who will be a good fit for your product or service for the product you’re promoting as an affiliate.

And as we go through the first 3 affiliate lead gen strategies, you’re going to want 1 traffic source to focus on.

Prospect Pool

The next thing you need to understand is the prospect pools and this is where your ideal customer’s attention currently is.

And you’re going to decide on what your strategy is going to be to grab their attention and of course, bring them into your funnel and lead generation process.

1. Paid Advertising

And the first one is going to be paid advertising. Now there are a lot of paid advertising platforms for affiliate marketing out there but the best ones to focus on would be Google ads, YouTube, and Facebook ads.

So one of these 3 would be the best place to start. If you’re looking for paid advertising.

Now, let’s go ahead and talk about the budget before we get into anything else because a huge objection is that this is going to cost a bunch of money and to a certain extent, yes, it can cost quite a bit of money.

affiliate lead generation ad spend

So if you’re looking at starting with Google ads to have at least $1,500 a month to spend before you start seeing a solid return on your investment.

And that will take about 3 months to achieve with YouTube in-stream ads. You’re going to be able to drive traffic off of YouTube. You only need $500 a month, which means around $1500 to $2,000 you’ll start to see a positive return on your ad spend.

And then Facebook ads; it’s also going to take a couple of months and you should have at least $2,000 a month for your Facebook ads.

Now I am a huge fan of YouTube and Google ads. and so when it comes to Google ads, I highly recommend starting with search ads because you’re going to be able to target people who are looking for your specific product and service right now.

And there are virtually no other platforms out there that allow you to be targeted this easily.

Yes, there are other platforms that allow you to do the same things, but when you’re comparing Google search ads to YouTube ads, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, you’re going to find that your budget’s going to go a lot farther with Google search ads, simply because you can target people exactly when they are looking to buy.

2. Content Marketing

Now, the second lead generation strategy for finding a prospect pool, identifying where your ideal customers are, and grabbing their attention would be content.

Now I’m not saying that you need to make 500 articles or go start creating YouTube videos every other day.

The good news is you only need a couple of strategic content posts that can help with your lead gen.

The power of content marketing is it can help engage with your prospects and educate potential customers and this actually builds you up as an authority.

content marketing lead generation benefits

So with your content, unlike paid media, you’re going to actually start to build an audience. And so you’re going to be seen as an authority with that audience as you build up that affinity.

Now, of course, the downside is with paid traffic you’re going to start seeing results probably in 2-3 days.

Whereas with content marketing, you’re going to see results sometimes in months, especially when you want to start an affiliate website.

So it takes a lot longer and you’re still going to have some out-of-pocket costs because the content does take a little bit to produce, but it is a lot cheaper.

And so the trade-off is you’re not investing as much upfront, but you’re just waiting a much longer period of time in order for it to start working.

When it comes to content that generates leads you can choose your platform between:

  • YouTube
  • SEO
  • Social media

And other free affiliate marketing traffic sources. but these are the 3 that I recommend and the one tip is to integrate calls to action throughout your content so your content actually generates leads as opposed to grabbing a bunch of attention and then not actually contributing to your bottom line.

3. Affiliate Marketing Networking

When I say networking, I don’t necessarily mean trying to go to conferences or trade shows, or local meet-ups.

What we’re going to focus on here are online groups specifically affiliate Facebook groups and LinkedIn groups.

affiliate marketing networking

You can also follow a strategy where you just answer a bunch of Quora questions, and then you link up your website or your landing page.

Although I’m going to focus on groups because that’s going to get you results a whole lot faster.

So what you want to do is identify groups that are full of prospects, not groups that are full of people in the similar business you are.

So let’s say, for example, we had some sort of really cool digital marketing software for agencies. And so we would want to go and find Facebook and LinkedIn groups that are full of people who are either agency owners or are key decision-makers who work at agencies.

And when we join those groups, we want to figure out how to be valuable and helpful.

And here’s the key: You never promote yourself and the affiliate marketing product you promote in that group at all.

Anytime you share a link or you talk about a resource, it should be a completely separate independent company that you or a website that you don’t have any stake in.

I know that seems a little counterintuitive but after a few weeks or months of you just engaging with people and networking in there, you’ll naturally have people reach out to you via private message or DM, and you’ll be able to start the sales conversation and direct them into your affiliate funnel and start generating leads that way.

So it is a lot more manual than the first but it still works as long as you don’t come across as super promotional.

Read more about how to network the right way in this guide on Linkedin affiliate marketing.

4. Affiliate Lead Magnet

Once you’ve identified where your ideal customers are, you’re starting to generate some attention and hopefully traffic, what the heck do you do with that attention and traffic?

Well, you want to collect that contact information so you can turn those prospects and audience members into leads and the best way to do this is with a lead magnet.

Now, there are a ton of different lead magnet ideas. Simply a lead magnet is something you’re offering a value in exchange for contact information. So this can be in the form of:

  • PDF
  • Video
  • Google sheet, or
  • Excel tool

I’ve put together an article all about affiliate marketing lead magnets that goes through different lead magnet ideas and how to create one specifically for affiliates.

5. Specific Training

The next one is going to be the hardest one and this is creating training. So when it comes to creating a special or specific training, you want to keep this under 25 minutes.

You’ve probably seen really long 2 hours webinars, and you’ve seen hour-long video sales letters.

That’s not what this is.

What you want to do with this special training is pick out something in your own experience that you’ve gained really valuable insights into.

affiliate funnel process - special training

So something that you’ve been able to achieve on your own, that they’re not going to find in a random podcast or blog post, and you want to create a 15 to 20-minute training that helps them solve a very specific problem or helps them achieve a result.

Essentially, you want to have “aha moments” in your prospect’s minds when they watch this video.

And so the first few minutes, you can do an introduction. Talk a little bit about yourself and then of course talk about how valuable this training is going to be.

Absolute pure value. And then absolute max where you pitch your affiliate product or service at the end.

6. Cold Outreach

The next lead generation strategy for affiliates on our list will be direct outreach. Now I know this isn’t a popular one, but it’s one that works incredibly well and it still works really well.

It just takes a lot more manual work and I think that’s why most affiliates don’t really want to do this.

And that is using cold email or cold social media outreach.

Now I am much more of a big fan of cold email and thanks to tools like SmartWriter, you can actually write super-specific outreach messages whether emails or Linkedin messages.

7. Pop Ups & Inline Forms

When it comes to collecting someone’s email address on your affiliate landing page or on your website, you have two different ways to do it.

One of them is an inline form, also known as a one-step opt-in or a traditional opt-in.

inline form example

This example is an inline or one-step opt-in because all someone needs to do is enter their email address and then they’re pretty much ready to go.

A popup or a two-step opt-in on the other hand looks like this:

pop-up-form-example

This strategy requires the visitor to click a button first before being presented with the opportunity to enter their email address.

Essentially it adds another step to the process, which on the surface sounds like a bad idea because why would you want to make things more complicated and involve more steps?

I’ll cover which one works better in just a minute.

But what’s important here, at least in your overall understanding of lead generation there are also other terms called a double opt-in and a single opt-in which take place after somebody has entered their email address.

A double opt-in is what you traditionally see when you sign up for something and then you have to click a confirmation link in your email address to confirm that this is you that actually requested it before you’re going to receive anything or be subscribed.

A single opt-in on the other hand means that as soon as someone enters their email address, they’re automatically subscribed without having to do anything else.

You could technically have a two-step opt-in that leads to a single opt-in or a one-step opt-in that leads to a double opt-in.

But back on the topic of inline versus popup form, which one’s best for you? Well, personally, I tend to see better results from the popup form, and the top-performing pop-ups averaged a 9.28% conversion rate which is great.

But according to statistics and studies and research were done on the subject, the answer is kind of split.

For real, there’s almost nothing in the world of marketing where things are as close as using an inline versus a popup form in regards to overall conversions. And this means 2 things.

First of all, you really can’t go wrong by choosing either one to start.

And second of all, you’re probably going to want to test the alternative at some point in the future to see what works best for you and for your audience.

I explain this strategy in detail in my email affiliate marketing guide, where you can see how to generate leads and build your email list.

Today, you’ll learn everything you need to know about affiliate marketing on YouTube that enables you to make money right from the start and no matter how many subscribers or views you have.

With over 1.7 billion unique monthly visitors, YouTube is one of the best free affiliate marketing traffic sources in 2022.

And the great thing about YouTube affiliate marketing is that you don’t have a minimum of 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time.

We will begin from scratch where I’ll show you how to set up your Youtube channel. I go so much in-depth in this course that I will even cover that part step by step because I want to show the entire process just to make sure you will get the best results possible.

I will show you how to choose a niche because there are some niches that are currently the most profitable than others.

Then I will show you how to create YouTube videos by using two methods. You’ll see how to make a video if you want to be in front of the camera as well you’ll see how to make YouTube videos without showing your face at all.

After that, you will see how to optimize your channel for YouTube SEO. I will show you how to get views quickly, how to promote your channels for free, how to get subscribers, and much more.

Let’s get started.

1. Find Your Niche

Choosing a niche is one of the most important step for any business. Let’s take a look at some of the best Youtube affiliate marketing niches:

  • Make money online
  • Finance & Inversting
  • Heatlh & Fitness
  • Lifestyle
  • Fashion
  • Tech & Gadgets

These are the most profitable niches where you can find lots of high-paying affiliate products to promote that we’ll cover later in this guide.

There are many more niches you can choose from like gaming, cars, photography, entertainment, cooking, and so on but the problem with these niches is they have low CPM and this is important if you decide to monetize your YouTube channel with ads.

💡 Pro Tip

If you’re struggling to find a niche for your YouTube channel, make sure to check out this in depth guide on how to find a niche for affiliate marketing where you’ll discover 15 tips to help you profitable niche.

2. Choose Affiliate Product To Promote

I will be showing you a couple of affiliate marketing programs and networks which I personally use and that are proven to get results with the strategy which we will be using later on.

There are a few different ways to find affiliate marketing products to promote. Here are some of the tips to get you started:

  • Look for high-demand, low-competition niches.
  • Choose a niche that you’re interested in and know a lot about.
  • Find a niche that has products with high margins.
  • Choose a niche that you can easily create content about.

If you’re in the software niche, there are lots of recurring affiliate programs where you can earn a recurring commission each month for one sale.

You can also find many high-paying affiliate programs and some that are even paying thousands of dollars in commissions and that way you don’t need a lot of views to make a lot of money.

And it’s the same effort to promote a $15 offer and the $1500 offer.

For example, I’ve been promoting Legendary Marketer and make a pretty decent amount of money with them.

You can also find thousands of products to promote on affiliate marketing networks such as ShareASale, ClickBank, JVZoo, Digistore24, and more. All of them are free to join and all you have to do is create an account, select a product, grab your affiliate link and you’re good to go.

I’ve done the research for you and prepared lists of:

If you still don’t know where to start, here is a useful guide on how to find affiliate marketing products to promote where you’ll see 13 tips and ideas.

3. Set Up Your Channel

Once you selected a niche and affiliate products to promote, the next thing that you will need to complete is to properly set up your YouTube channel for success.

And this is all some basic technical part before we start getting into more complicated details of growing your channel and setting up monetization properly.

Find YouTube Channel Name

First of all, you would need to think of a unique name for your channel. If you have no idea or you don’t feel creative right now, you can simply use this free website called business name generator.

You can enter a keyword related to your business and it will give you some of the best name ideas which you can use. Your channel name will depend on your affiliate marketing niche and what product you want to promote.

For this tutorial, let’s try with finance that’s going to give me over 1200 unique names.

business name generator finance

Now you can go through them and find the one you like. If you don’t like any of those, you can use different keyword variations.

You can use anything you like and name your channel as you prefer but make sure to include something related to your niche.

Create a Logo

Once you set up a name, you will need to create a logo for your channel or profile picture. And if you have graphic design skills and feel free to use Photoshop or Adobe illustrator.

But if you don’t know how to use those or you simply don’t want to spend any money on those expensive softwares, then you can use some free alternatives like Canva which you can use to create professional logo designs for free., It requires no investment and it pretty much works for almost every country around the world.

All you have to do is sign up, type in “YouTube channel logo”, select a template and you can customize it.

canva youtube channel logo

Simply pick which ones you like, enter your channel name, change the colors, size, and fonts if you like.

Once you’re happy, you can download it, and you’re basically ready to go.

You can play around with different designs until you have something that you really like.

Now, this is of course not the only way to get a logo done. You can even hire freelancers and websites like Fiverr where you can find someone that will design a really professional logo for sometimes less than 10 bucks.

fiverr logo design

Once you have your logo design is done or your profile picture, you will need to upload it to your Youtube channel.

To do so just go to Youtube, click on your profile picture, click change, and just upload your profile picture to your channel.

Create a YouTube Cover Photo

Next, you will need a YouTube cover photo. To create a high-quality one for free, you can also use Canva where you can find thousands of different template designs from which you can choose, drag and drop and create professional-looking designs.

Just go to the search bar and look for “Youtube channel art”.

canva youtube channel art

That’s going to give you all of these templates which you can use, just make sure to use the one you like and you can customize it for our niche and for your channel specifically.

And here is the same process as when creating a logo. You can change the colors, fonts, text size, background, add your own images and photos from their library, and just fully customize everything.

To add your channel art to your Youtube channel, you will need to go back to Youtube, click “customize channel” then just click on branding and then click upload the banner image.

channel customization branding

And just find that image that you previously downloaded from Canva or wherever you have designed it.

Now, of course, you can put in a little bit more time and effort into your designs until you make something that looks high quality or you can of course hire someone to do it for you.

But even if you do it for absolutely free, you can make it look really nice.

And with this, you have officially completed setting up your channel and we can continue to complete more steps and achieve more progress.

Let’s go to the next step.

4. Come up with a YouTube Video Idea

Now, I’ll show you how to actually get ideas for your videos even if you have no previous experience in this niche.

Option #1. YouTube Research

The first solution to finding a video idea is to simply go directly to Youtube and take a look at what other people are talking about.

And trust me, you will be able to find hundreds of new videos every single day because this is a topic where you can basically never run out of things to make a video about it.

So the way I personally do it is I search for a keyword that can potentially be in this type of video, for example investing, stock market, make money, and more and to get the fresh new videos.

youtube investing search results

I would filter my search either by this week or this month. That way I’m getting only the latest content, which I can use in my videos.

So you can simply go through the videos that have been published recently, open up the one you personally prefer, watch it all the way until the end, listen to what they’re talking about and get an idea.

But remember, you should never replicate the entire video.

You should never just come for the entire video because it will not work.

That’s just one way you can get an idea for your videos.

Option #2. Google Search

The second option is you can simply just do Google research and find the idea from Google itself. You can never run out of things to talk about and you can always rely on what other bigger YouTubers are talking about in their videos and just talk about a similar subject.

And on Google, you can find a lot of information which you can combine into one single Youtube video.

You can also take a look at what people are talking about in their videos and mix that with some Google research.

Option #3. Video Mix

The third option is to get an idea by mixing multiple Youtube videos on a similar subject. Let’s say you want to make a video about the next stock market crash.

You can just open up 3 different such videos that have been published lately and take some info from all of them and combine them into your own single video.

So go there, do some research on both Youtube and Google, find a video idea, and we will proceed to the video production part of this YouTube affiliate marketing guide.

5. Create a YouTube Video

Now, I’ll go over some of the different ways to create videos whether you want to be in front of the camera or create YouTube videos without showing your face.

Create a Video Yourself

Now, first of all, we have video ideas and for this, you can simply use the previous methods. So either do a little bit of research on Youtube and Google, see what’s trending, which videos work for other Youtubers, and get an idea from that.

The first thing, that you need is a script and when filming these videos yourself, the script is really an optional part.

You don’t need it in most cases. In fact, one of the best-performing videos can end up being unscripted. Just turn on the camera and started talking about a specific topic.

You can of course first do a little bit of research and learn more about it. If you have no previous experience in talking about whatever topic you want to talk about, you have Google available to you 24 hours a day.

Write a Video Script

So now that you have an idea for your video and you know what it should be about, you will need to start your video production by crafting your script.

And for the first part of video production which was finding an idea, you should spend no more than 10 minutes. So it should take you less than 10 minutes to find a video idea and then another maybe 15 minutes to write a script.

To get started with crafting your script, you will need some typing document to put that text in. And one of the best free options is to just use Google Docs. So you can go to Google docs, open up a new document page which you can use to get their script done.

Now you just need the actual script to put into this document and they’re probably 3 different options that you can use to get a script done.

Option #1. Write The Script Yourself

The first option is of course to just write the script yourself. If you’ve got an idea from someone else’s video and you did some Google research, then you can based on that write your own script. And that’s the best free option is to just write the script yourself based on your research.

Option #2. Use AI Writer

But if you don’t want to write the entire script yourself, then you can use some of the AI copywriting tools like Jasper.ai where you can find a dedicated template for YouTube video script.

japser ai youtube video script

So those are 2 different ways you can get a script done and it should take you no more than 15 minutes.

So for now we spend approximately 25 minutes in total of getting those for getting an idea and writing a script.

Let’s go to the next part which is getting your voice overdone

Record Voiceover

So now that you have your script inside Google documents, you need your voice-over.

Option #1. Record The Voiceover Yourself

The best free option to getting a voiceover for your videos is to just record yourself while reading the script.

It doesn’t need to sound professional. In the beginning, you don’t have to show your face, just turn on your microphone and read the script. It will probably require some practice but you will get better if you stick to it.

Option #2. Use Voiceover Software

And there are loads of different voice recording softwares which you can use like Audacity. It’s really simple, easy and it’s absolutely free. You can install Audacity, on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

It’s really easy to install and you can use it for a lifetime.

Once you install it, all you have to do is select your microphone device, press record and start reading the script. Once you’re done, just save it, export it to your computer as MP3 and that’s it.

You got a voiceover done for absolutely free and I assume you already have an external microphone or you have a built-in microphone in your laptop so you can use that in the beginning or even if you have none of those, just use your smartphone or tablet installed some free voice recording app and film it like that.

It will not be professional from the beginning, you’ll improve along the way anyways, just record your voice-over. It should not take more than 20 minutes but don’t rush it.

Edit The Video

For recording your screen you can use OBS studio which you can download for free

It’s simple, easy, and absolutely free. All you have to do is press start recording and that’s it.

💡 Note

You can also find other screen recording software in this list of free affiliate marketing tools.

So in most of the cases for those that are willing to do the work themselves to talk into the microphone or even get in front of the camera, this can be a really easy and fast way to produce YouTube videos that can turn into something a lot bigger.

Building a personal brand is a long-term game, but after 6 to 12 months you can get results that you probably never even dreamed of.

To learn more advanced tips and strategies, you can check out this guide on affiliate video marketing where you’ll learn how to take your video marketing to the next level.

Create a Faceless YouTube Video

The second option to do YouTube affiliate marketing is to create a faceless YouTube channel where you don’t have to show your face.

For this, you can use a tool that I personally use; Pictory.ai. This is one of the best AI video generators that can turn your text into a video.

picotry video editor

💡 Note

To learn more about this method, I’ve put together an entire guide on how to start a faceless YouTube channel from start to finish so make sure to check that out.

6. Promote Affiliate Links on YouTube

Now we will go over how to promote affiliate links on YouTube. And this will of course vary depending on the offer you’re promoting but methods are pretty similar for everything.

1. Mention Your Affiliate Links at the Beginning of a Video

The first step is to plug your affiliate links at the beginning of every video at least in the first 60 seconds because the average viewer retention on YouTube is around 50%. So you want to briefly mention your offer before they click off of the video.

At the beginning of your video you can say something like:

“Check out the link below in the description of this video right now and I will share with you my number one recommendation to make money online”

The rest of the video can be about a completely different topic.

And no matter what you’re promoting whether that’s some software from WarriorPlus or a course from JVZoo or ClickBank, you can still just mention it as your number one recommendation and leave a link to it in the description below the video.

And that’s exactly how I used to make sometimes hundreds of dollars per video.

But this is of course not the only way to do it. There are even better and more efficient ways that will get you a lot better results.

2. Make an Informational Video About the Product You Promote

So the second method of promoting your affiliate links is to make an entire video about them. Let’s say you’re promoting top-notch day trading software.

What you can simply do is you can make a video called, for example, “Best day trading platform in 2022” or something of that nature, and then don’t push the product that right from the start because that will get your viewers angry. They didn’t come to watch a commercial.

youtube best trading platform

Rather than start the video with some hook about what results the bot can get them. Talk about what to expect from it, how it works, who is it for, and you can get all of that info right from the sales page.

You can even just record your screen while scrolling through the sales page but don’t mention it at least for the first 5 minutes because you want to build a genuine connection with the reviewer before you offer them your affiliate link.

You want them to trust you first. Don’t be a salesman or spammy.

But rather than that just to show results, maybe even show the product in action and after some time, just mention your affiliate link in the description.

This exact same strategy made me over $800 in affiliate commissions from a single video and I made an additional $300 from the ad revenue so my total earnings for this video are over $1,100 and it probably took me less than an hour to film it from scratch.

You can pretty much use this same strategy for any other affiliate offer you want to promote.

Just make sure to not do this frequently. You don’t want to turn your channel into an online store from which your audience runs away but rather than that, use it up to once a week or even less frequently than that.

3. Make a Product Review Video

The third way of promoting your affiliate offers is to make a review video or a comparison video from that category. These are also really effective. For example, top 5-day trading bots.

youtube top 5 day trading platforms

Now, you just need to find five different software, find different offers that are geared up to that specific topic. In this case, you would need to find 5 different day trading bots and just compare them and make a comparison video.

Talk about which one you think is the best one. And you can easily put like 5 different affiliate links in your description and your viewers can choose which one they like the most.

4. Use Launch Jacking Strategy

You can also make review videos in advance which is called launch jacking. You can use this platform called MunchEye where you can find all the upcoming Warrior Plus or JV Zoo offers. It will show up with the exact launch date.

muncheye launches

You can choose which one you want to promote and they will give you all the affiliate resources that you talk about in your review video.

They will sometimes even give you free access to the products. You can test it out and review it properly and you can publish that video right before the launch date.

So when it launches, all of the other affiliates will start sending emails to their email subscribers and those email subscribers will naturally go to Youtube and search for reviews to see what they’re about to purchase is good or not.

And if they land to your video, well that’s hot traffic, they will most likely buy the product. You can also offer customers affiliate marketing bonuses packed with value as an incentive to use your affiliate link rather than anybody else’s.

So it becomes a no-brainer for the customer to use your affiliate link. If you want to make this type of review video, you can find a bunch of bonuses on Google. Just type in PLR products. PLR stands for private label rights and those are the products like e-books courses and PDF files that give you full rights to give them out for free to other people.

You can, of course, start with the free PLR products but after some time you will have to buy higher quality bonuses because you want to stand out from the crowd and you want to make more people use your affiliate link rather than anybody else’s.

So those are 4 different ways you can promote affiliate links on YouTube in any niche.

7. Optimize Your Video For YouTube SEO

Now I want to break down how you can optimize your channel for YouTube SEO including title, tags, and descriptions for ranking higher on Youtube and getting more views.

Video File

So first of all, I want to start with indexing your video into the Youtube algorithm before you even publish it.

And the way you can do so is by naming the original video file using as many keywords related to the video as possible.

So when you upload the video to Youtube, Youtube knows the file name, your viewers won’t be able to see that, but the algorithm clearly knows what the video is about.

So you can use that to your advantage by adding keywords to your original video file before you upload it to Youtube so your ranking chances will be much higher since the algorithm picked up more keywords and knows more about your video.

And this is something that not a lot of people know about, but it showed to be really effective for many of my videos and it’s just a quick way of letting Youtube know who should see your video.

Let’s now start with the title optimization.

Video Title

Your title should always include more keywords if you’re just starting out and you should divide the title into two parts.

The first part is a long-tail keyword that grabs people’s attention and the second part is a short tail keyword that will help you with your rankings.

So if your video for example “How to make money in the next market crash” you can put that as the first long-tail keyword and then next to it, you can say “investing for beginners” or “how to invest for beginners” or anything that’s related.

youtube video title

Or if for example, my video is about 5 ways to boost your credit score, I can name it:

“5 ways to boost your credit score (stock market for beginners)”

And one of the best ways to research those keywords and see what’s trending and what will most likely get you the best results possible is to go over to Youtube and start typing the keywords that is your video about and it will instantly give you top search results for it.

It will give you those keywords that people are most likely to search and are most interested in when trying to watch these types of videos.

So if you make a video about some of those topics, chances are, it will get more views.

So that’s how you can get an idea for your long tail and short tail keywords to add into your title, make sure you always divided into two parts.

Video Description

The second thing which we need to optimize properly is the description and believe it or not the description is one of the most important factors when it comes to ranking on Youtube and ranking high on Youtube means more views over a long period of time.

So after testing loads of different options here is the best description formula you will start with a call to action and your number one recommendation or the offer which you want to promote as an affiliate.

youtube video description example

Then right after that you can copy and paste your title. The reason you want to do this is if you have those keywords both in the video file name title and the description, you will improve your ranking score and you will give that the trigger to the YouTube algorithm to push your video to people searching those keywords.

So always place your title in the description of your video below that you can either add more affiliate links or call to action to make them like your video or subscribe.

And after that you just keep adding more keywords related to the video. So you can write a brief explanation of what you will be talking about in that video and use as many keywords as you can.

So briefly write something and include as many keywords as you can. The more targeted keywords you use in your description, the better ranking results you will achieve.

Video Tags

When it comes to the tags, first I want to tell you what not to do because it’s important and that is to never use tags that have nothing to do with your video or your channel.

For example, when I was starting, I thought since dropshipping videos were getting a lot of use I was like I will put dropshipping keywords for my videos about affiliate marketing and it should get views.

Well, it doesn’t work like that because when people search for dropshipping and my video comes up, they will notice it’s not about dropshipping so they will pass on it and won’t even click it which is ultimately going to ruin my click through rate and kill my video performance.

Or if on the other hand, they actually click, they will immediately see that my video is probably not what they are interested in since they’re searching dropshipping and that’s why they will most likely click off of my video and watch something else which will ultimately make my watch time drop.

So never use the keywords and tags that have nothing to do with your video. No matter how high their search volume is. They will most likely ruin your chance of getting views anyways with that out of the way.

Here’s a simple method of getting the best tags for your videos. You can simply install one of these free tools, one of these tools is TubeBuddy. So install the TubeBuddy Chrome extension and you will get access to some cool Youtube features that you normally wouldn’t. And amongst all, you will get access to other people’s tags.

tubebuddy tags

So you can simply go to Youtube, search for the video topic, your videos, then filter the research by view count and that will give you top videos in that subject that got the most views in that specific niche.

So you can simply open up one of them in one of the videos and you will be able to see which tags they’ve used for their video.

So you can just copy those tags and you can use them in your own video. Just paste them in the text section.

That way you will maximize your results and chances of getting views because it’s proven that those tags got success to other Youtubers talking about the same subject.

And finally, for your tags, you can also use the names of big YouTubers in your niche. So you find big Youtubers that are talking about the same subject as you and use up to 3 of them in your video tags. That way you might get people that watch their videos to watch yours as well.

So that’s how you can properly optimize your title, tags, and description for best results to rank higher on YouTube

Affiliate Marketing On YouTube Final Words

So this is how YouTube affiliate marketing works. You know exactly how to set up your channel, how to create videos even without showing your face, how to optimize your videos for YouTube SEO to rank higher.

So the process is pretty simple, but it will require some time nonetheless, just follow each and every step from this guide, take massive action, stay dedicated, and you’ll see results.

And if you want to take your YouTube channel to the next level, I highly recommend you start building your affiliate email list that will help you make money on YouTube.

Once you’ve mastered the basics by knowing the product you promote, your audience, it is time to pull it all together in a cohesive affiliate marketing landing page.

Now you might be wondering, do I really need a landing page?

Can’t I just send people straight to affiliate links and call it good?

What is a landing page really going to do for me?

The answer, quite simply, is that an effective landing page is called that for a reason – it works.

I have found that the landing page converts at least 10x better than sending people straight to affiliate links.

A landing page is the first and one of the most important components of a successful affiliate marketing sales funnel.

And while the idea of creating an effective, high-converting landing page might sound scary and intimidating, it doesn’t have to be.

Now I’m going to show you how to create a landing page for affiliate marketing in 6 simple steps.

Let’s get started.

How To Create Affiliate Marketing Landing Page

Now I’ll show you how to create an affiliate marketing landing page step by step, then you’ll see some landing page examples I’ve been using in my business.

Let’s get into it.

Step 1. Choose a Landing Page Builder

The first step is to choose a landing page builder. For this, you can use ClickFunnels, LeadPages, or ThriveLeads if you use WordPress.

I’m personally a big fan of the drag & drop landing page builder called Builderall which is one of the best affiliate funnel builders and a complete digital marketing platform with more than 40 digital marketing tools including an email autoresponder.

In addition, Builderall gives you over +400 done for your affiliate marketing landing pages that I’ll show you in a moment.

This is a platform that I personally use in my affiliate business and I’ll use it in this tutorial.

And if you want to get started, here you can start your Builderall 14-day free trial that is not available to the public.

Step 2. Create a New Page

Once you log in to your Builderall dashboard, you’ll see over 40 digital marketing tools you can use for your affiliate business.

builderall dashboard

But don’t get overwhelmed because for now, you’ll only need a landing page builder that you can find under Apps, then click on “Cheetah Website Builder” then click on “Create New Site” and you’ll see an option where you can select

Professional Templates, or Smart Templates.

select template

And here you want to select the Professional Templates.

Then you can choose from hundreds of affiliate marketing templates pre-built for you in many different niches like:

  • Health & Fitnesss
  • Fashion & Beauty
  • Weight Loss
  • Food & Drink
  • Travel
  • Coaching
  • Crypto
affiliate marketing landing page templates

You can also find templates for different industries like restaurants, home repairs, dentists, salons, mechanics and.

And this is great if you’re promoting affiliate products in these types of niches.

Step 3. Customize Your Landing Page

Once you selected your template you can start customizing it to your likes. Here is the template I’ve chosen and as you can see the template is pre-design for you.

All you need to do is to upload your logo, change the text, colors and you’re good to go.

With Builderall you don’t have any coding knowledge or even design skills because everything is drag and drop.

Step.4 Add Email Opt-In Form

Now you need to add an opt-in form to collect leads and build your email list.

The email form you can find on the right-hand side in the “Panels” section.

email marketing form

You just need to click and drag it on your page.

Step 5. Connect an Email List

What’s cool about Builderall is they actually have an email marketing tool inside their platform as well so everything integrates with each other.

So this is where you can actually select a list or create a new list.

create new list

Step 6. Add an Affiliate Link

And this is basically the whole entire affiliate landing page. All we would have to do from here is really just put in our affiliate links.

set link

So we can press set link and basically what this is going to do is after people opt-in to this form they’re going to go over straight to our affiliate link.

That’s basically it guys. I mean we can work on the design a little bit but again I’m not a great designer by all means.

But this alone looks pretty decent and that’ll start working for us.

If you’re happy you can just go back and save and exit and the only other step from here is before you start running traffic is you set up your email follow-up.

In one of my recent articles, I made a whole post around email affiliate marketing and how to build an email list, and do your email follow-up so I’d recommend you guys check it out.

So this is how to create an affiliate landing page in just 6 simple steps using.

Affiliate Landing Page Elements

Now let me show what every successful landing page should include.

You see more often than not, people overwhelm their visitors with too many options and too many choices and too many colours and too much stuff going on when the reality is you just want to keep it simple and keep it in alignment with where they came from and what they’re expecting.

Strong Headline

Your headline should prequalify your prospect based on their felt need and desire for transformation, as well as promise an intriguing result if they stick around and read what comes next.

Here are a few headline examples to get you started:

• The Ultimate [niche of your product]

• Create/Get/Learn [desired result] in [timeframe]

• Discover the [felt need] you crave

• It’s time to [transformation]

• Ready to [felt need]? Now’s your chance!

• Stop the [struggle] in [timeframe]

• How to [desired result] in [timeframe] … or your money back.

• Are you tired of [struggle]? I can help.

Benefits

You’ll need to provide details about an affiliate product you’re promoting and what’s included, but be very careful not to get so wrapped up in talking about the actual features of the product itself that the benefits of the product get lost.

Remember, you are not selling a product, you are selling a transformation. Your potential customer cares much more about what they stand to gain from the product than they do about the actual attributes of the product itself.

Solid benefits serve a purpose on a high conversion landing page by setting up a promise and enticing the reader to opt-in and providing your prospect with more reasons to buy the product.

Driving more traffic, more clicks, and more people to your landing page doesn’t mean a thing if all they do, once they get there is take a quick look around, come to the conclusion that what you have is not for them and then disappear, never to be seen again.

Call to Action

Remind your customer what benefits they’ll get when they buy, and remind them of the pain and inconveniences that will go away when they’ve fully used your product or service.

Then you simply ask them explicitly to buy. Not doing so will cost you conversions, and it’s an easy mistake to make because as new marketers we can be hesitant to ask for things.

Here are some of the call to action examples:

  • Free download
  • Reserve now
  • Sign up now
  • Join now

You can feel free to test that instead. But if you feel the need to complicate things just a little bit more, that’s all right, too.

Affiliate Landing Page Examples

Now let me show you affiliate landing page examples that I use inside my business, as well as that I use with my clients and my students, and that convert at over 48.4%, which is over 3 times higher than the average.

But before we dive in, first, a real quick warning that these pages are going to look deceptively simple. And that’s kind of the goal.

So, with that said, let me show you two different landing pages.

Example #1. Make Money Online Niche

Now, starting with the simple landing page for my free affiliate eBook.

All right, so what you’re looking at here is the simple landing page. And like I promised you, it is simple, but that’s also what makes it deadly effective.

affiliate marketing landing page example

So, at the top, you can see the lead magnet name.

All you need to do here is enter the title or the description or the name of whatever it is that you’re giving away, which could be:

  • Video
  • Training
  • How to guide
  • Checklist
  • Cheat sheet

Or anything like that.

Then the line below, well, this should look pretty familiar, essentially what you’ll find inside.

Just go back to that clear offer formula, plug that in there, and you’re pretty much done.

Then you have the button where you can notice the CTA or call to action text is “Get Free Instant Access”.

Now, after a decade of doing this, I still find consistently that this is the text that performs best.

Example #2. Weight Loss Niche

You can see that this affiliate landing page is going to follow a similar structure to the other one, with just a few more areas of opportunity for persuasion and motivation and a little bit more authority.

lead magnet example 2

You see, it’ll start at the top with that affiliate lead magnet title. You have an opportunity to put your logo here as well, which helps with some brand congruence and credibility.

You’ve got your tagline, which again, you can use the clear offer formula or simply follow the prompt there.

The call-to-action button text is “I want to lose weight”. Seems to be one of the best performers for me personally.

But if you have one that you know works a little better, feel free to swap that out.

You also have an opportunity to show a picture of your affiliate product, as well as provide a few bullet points.

Some of the highlights, some of the features or the advantages or the benefits of what they’re going to get when they download or purchase.

We’ll cap that off with some of the mandatory links at the bottom, like a privacy policy or links to your page, maybe one more logo, and then you’re pretty much done.

Affiliate Landing Page Tips To Increase Conversions

Yet sadly, this is exactly what most pages and affiliate sites do; scare people away, often forever. In fact, depending on what statistic you look at or what industry you’re in, the average is that when someone visits your site for the first time, somewhere around 98% of them will leave and never come back.

In other words, for every 100 people that you get to your site or to your page, only a few of them are actually going to stick around and hear what you have to say. And that isn’t good for affiliate marketing lead generation.

So now I’m going to show you exactly how to create a high converting landing page that not only looks good but also works good. And one that you can create in as little as a few minutes.

So, here’s my promise to you. If you do exactly what I show you inside this guide, you will increase your conversion rate and get more leads and more sales without needing any additional traffic at all.

So let me show you how it’s done.

Irresistable Offer

And it all starts with a single most important element of all, having an irresistible offer.

There’s a rule in direct marketing called the 40-40-20 rule, which essentially just states that the success of your campaign comes down to 3 things in the following percentages.

40% of your success is the result of your offer.

40% is the result of your audience and your ability to find the right target market.

And just 20% is what we marketers call the copy, which are the words and the images that you use in order to describe your offer.

But here’s the thing, people get this backward all the time. They spend the bulk of their time, money, and energy on making things look really nice or sound really good, and then completely ignore the audience that they’re going after, or more importantly, the offer that they’re actually making.

In other words, is what they’re offering or what they’re proposing to the market something that they actually want, or more importantly, something that they actually need?

Most often, the answer is no.

But it does explain why so many websites and landing pages often perform so poorly. I want better for you though, and that’s why we’ve got to focus on making sure that you’re promoting the most irresistible affiliate product possible.

Something that the people you’re trying to attract would actually find relevant and useful and valuable. I know, sounds obvious, but common sense isn’t always common practice.

Now, there are a lot of ways to craft a truly compelling and irresistible offer. But if you’re just getting started, I’m going to suggest you go with something that I call the clear offer formula, and it looks like this.

“The product does X for Y so you can Z without W

The X is what the product does. Literally, the product or the service that you promote as an affiliate and put in a way that your audience would actually understand.

There’s no need to be clever or creative here. Just say what it does. The Y is your ideal customer avatar that perfect prospect.

Z is the benefit that they want, that end state, that outcome, that dream result, that you’re hopefully able to provide for them.

And W is something that they don’t want. This is typically something that’s going to take all of their time or all of their energy or cause all kinds of pain or frustration, and hopefully, you could minimize or remove that completely for them.

This is a great place to start because the point is all of the best words and pretty pictures in the world are going to mean a thing if your visitor doesn’t immediately understand what it is that you’re selling and how, or why they should care and how it’s going to benefit them.

And this is the perfect segue into the next point, which is all about content congruence.

Make Sure Your Landing Page is Congruent

Content congruence is really just understanding that where your traffic came from to your affiliate landing page is just as, if not more important than where they arrived. make sure your landing page is congruent.

And messing this up is one of the biggest reasons that most landing pages simply don’t convert.

Maybe this sounds familiar. You’re scrolling through the web, you’re reading an article, you’re watching a video, whatever it is, and then somebody says something that catches your attention and makes you want to click a link to learn a little bit more about whatever it is they’re talking about.

So, you click, but where you end up is often strange and confusing and doesn’t align at all with what you thought you were clicking on.

So naturally, you click the back button and you bounce. And this explains what happens for many affiliate marketers most of the time.

And the solution takes part in one of three different ways. The first one is media congruence.

Use The Right Media

There’s an expression I know you’ve heard before, which is that a picture is worth a thousand words. And when it comes to affiliate landing pages, this is absolutely the case.

Your choice of images and more importantly, the images that they’re going to convey to the visitor can often mean a double-digit increase in conversion rates.

The thing with images though, is that there really isn’t a one size fits all formula where a single image is going to work equally well across all businesses and all markets and all industries.

That said, there is a kind of image, which is more of one size fits none. Basically, a kind of image that is so bad that it works nowhere ever. And that is the standard stock photo. You know what I’m talking about.

Those super fake photos of people in an office, shaking hands, smiling at the camera unnaturally or the worst culprit of all, the stock photo high five. So do your best to find an image that actually looks like the people that you’re trying to serve, and one that conveys the right kind of attitude and emotion that you’re hoping to deliver. And of course, don’t be afraid to test different images.

Final Words

So now you know exactly how to create an affiliate marketing landing page. You also know how to optimize it to get a higher conversion rate as well as what to deliver your lead magnet.

Now it’s time to run traffic and get some sales. If you’re struggling at this point, make sure to check these in-depth guides and see:

Today, we’re gonna be going over your affiliate marketing business plan. This is the 10,000 ft overview of what you’re going to be doing on a day-to-day basis in your business. What you should be focusing on and that way whenever you go to do your work for the day.

You open up your laptop and you’re thinking to yourself “what do I actually need to get done?”

Or maybe when you’re writing an email “who am I actually writing this email to?”

“What problem am I solving for these people?”

So all those questions that come into mind that just overwhelm you with your business.

That’s what the affiliate marketing business plan is made to do is just have a laser-focused, clear approach to ask exactly what you’re doing and what you’re trying to solve in your business.

That way you can stay hyper-focused on one thing and not get shiny object syndrome as most other people do.

So, this is something I did for myself a couple of years back and it really just helps me stay focused on what I need to do, helps me stay focused in one niche and ultimately helps me make more money.

Because when you’re more organized, you’re more focused, typically you’re going to make way more money.

So now, I’m going to show you an affiliate marketing business plan example you can follow.

And this plan is from a guy that is doing affiliate marketing full time,

Here you can download your affiliate marketing business plan and work along with me.

Affiliate Marketing Business Plan

So this is actually my business plan that I followed to become one of the top affiliates for a big software company as I explain in my affiliate marketing PDF.

affiliate marketing business plan

So let me show you exactly how this looks and then I’ll show you another example of one of our other successful students of their business plan and their thought process and how they went in a completely different niche, but they still saw good results, all because they had a plan that could follow.

Business model

So the business model is affiliate marketing. We’re affiliates were promoting other people’s products for a commission.

Target market

Now my target market at the time was people wanting to learn how to make money and do marketing online. Also known as the wealth niche.

Target Customer

My target customer for this business was anyone 25-55, male or female didn’t matter. They hate their boss, they’re fearful of the retirement looming and not enough money, and have tried other gimmicks and businesses with little success. Desire something honest, doesn’t want to get rich, but wants passive income. They want to travel, spend more time with family and friends and are not super tech savvy.

So notice how I’m just getting like all these things about my target customer and what they want. And now when I go to write an ad, an email, or anything I want, I have a blueprint of exactly who I am writing to.

So it’s going to be a lot easier to write a piece of content or an email or an ad when you know your target customers, that’s why we fill this out.

The problem I will solve

This is that they have not found someone reliable, down to earth and honest that won’t oversell or overhype the opportunity, but instead will provide a huge amount of value for free and also make valuable recommendations and bonuses to money-making training and software online.

So basically the problem I’m solving is not to be the flashy overhyped guru, it’s just to be that person who gives a lot of value and wants to actually help you,

That’s the problem I’m solving. And when I tell that to my leads, when I tell that to my target customer, they’re going to be like, “Wow, that’s something I would want. I’m sick of the overhyped gurus”

So think about the problem that you’re going to solve in your niche.

How exactly will I solve the problem

So I will make recommendations via Youtube ads, emails and videos to solve their future financial fears by showing them stable and sustainable ways to bring in passive income online and do marketing via affiliate marketing.

So that’s what I’m going to do to actually solve the problem is put out free content and run ads.

Revenue streams

This is the most exciting part of the business plan is my revenue stream for this. My goal is to promote Builderall out on the front end and sell the annual plan alone with a few other recommendations on the back end.

Whenever I say backend that major email list, Back end means email list. I also have Youtube ad revenue and any courses I make in the future are also revenue streams.

So notice how I listed my revenue streams, what I’m going to make.

So I made a plan and I stuck to it and actually became one of the top affiliates following this plan. So pretty cool to see looking back on this.

Marketing Activities

My marketing activity for this was I’m gonna run YouTube ads with a budget of $100 per day. I’m also gonna make blog posts around the field marketing to grow my free traffic and my brand as well, including my email list of course.

So those are kind of the things I was going to do on a daily basis to actually get leads into my funnel right. The next thing is expenses.

Expenses

So for me at the time I had a budget of like $5000 per month for ads and $500 per month for software. Obviously, if you’re just starting out, you don’t need to start with that amount of budget.

Start with $100 per month for software. All you need is a sales funnel builder and email marketing platform. to run your business. You can get it in ClickFunnels, ActiveCampaign or the platform that I’m using for my affiliate business – Builderall.

For ads you can start with $10 a day. You don’t have to start with $5,000 per month. At the time. I was already making around $10,000 per month. So it made sense to spend $5000.

Team and Key Roles

So this is where I will operate as a solopreneur with the goal to automate most of my business. I’m gonna have a VA that helps me do more of the time consuming tasks.

Skill Sets

Another thing that separates me from the competition or my skill sets around digital marketing. So I said I want to focus on mastering 3 skill sets including lead generation via paid advertising, email marketing, and SEO to run my affiliate marketing website.

So if I can get really good at SEO, if I can get really good at writing emails and I can get really good at running ads, those 3 skill sets that I learned and developed are going to separate me from anyone else trying to do affiliate marketing.

Milestones

I also had some milestones here within the next 60 days. I want to hit $20,000 per month and by month 6 I want to hit my 1st $30,000 per month.

So it’s good to have some goals to motivate yourself for your business plan.

Download the Affiliate Marketing Business Plan PDF

So anyways, guys, this is an example of how to create your affiliate marketing business plan, so be sure to go and fill up this business plan. Will have a worksheet down below. That being said, go download that, Take action on this plan, save it somewhere hanging on your wall.

Whether you went to school and studied English literature or you’ve never written a thing in your life, there are some simple affiliate marketing content writing processes you can follow to create quality content in no time.

High-quality content is the thing that will set you apart from others. Your entire site will revolve around this.

High-quality info content = more links.

High-quality commercial content = more affiliate commission.

You can have the most beautiful affiliate marketing site in the world but that won’t mean anything unless you have good content to back it up.

Now you may be asking, what is high-quality content? How do I achieve it? What if I’m not good enough?

This is exactly what we’re going to cover in this guide.

And when it comes to writing affiliate content, you don’t need any fancy tools either. You can use Google Docs, or if you have it installed, Microsoft Word.

So now I’ll be going through the affiliate content creation process. I’ve put together some powerful templates that will help to ensure the content you order or produce yourself is a high quality every time.

Let’s find out how to write affiliate articles the right way.

Affiliate Product Review

For this affiliate review type of content, I’ll hone in on the smaller details of a single product.

While these may be a bit more competitive, a lot of people search for these types of articles. If you have done keyword research for your affiliate site, you have the right keywords, the volume and buying intent are always sky high.

Description of the post: This post is a review of a specific product. The audience will already be interested in the product. They need someone to bridge the features and the benefits. An accurate and unbiased opinion is the best approach (no hard selling). This post should focus on the real-life use of the product and what it can do for the user, not a list of features without meaning.

📝 Affiliate Review Template

Introduction – Empathize with the reader

Around 50-100 words

  • Include the exact keyword somewhere in here as naturally as possible
  • Talk from the point of view of the author and share the initial problem he had in his/her that pushed him/her to look for the product
    • Example: “I used to be 40lbs overweight and I was feeling TERRIBLE about myself. I had no energy and felt judged every time someone would lay their eyes on me.”
  • Explain why that problem had to be solved and what the complications would be if it was not solved
    • Example: I knew I really had to address the issue because I was putting myself at risk of heart attack and diabetes if the issue was not solved and that would mean not being here for my family when they need me the most.
  • Do not necessarily say you used the product just say it would have helped you a lot.
    • Example: The venus factor did not exist when I solved this issue but I wish it did. The program addresses all the typical issue of <people with this problem> and does a great job at it!.

Things to consider before buying a <product category>

200 – 300 words

  • Briefly remind the reader of the problems that product category solves and why one would seek to buy an item in it.
  • Describe the ideal customer for the product category and who should not buy, why and what they should buy instead.
  • List the things the buyer needs to think about before buying the product

Presenting the product

100-150 words

  • Give a brief description of what the product is, the promise that it makes and what comes with it when you purchase it. also compare it to the market leader and its previous versions.
    • Example: P90x is the little brother of the Insanity workout by the same company. It ưclaims to help you lose fat and build muscle in just 90 days by following a rigorous diet and exercise plan from the comfort of your home. It is now the 3rd edition of this product and it seems like the major changes with this iteration are better video production and aesthetics.
  • Explain who that specific product is for and who it is not for
    • Example: The venus factor can definitely help if you are looking to change your life around and lose weight fast but be warned: you WILL have to change your diet so if this is something you are not ready to do you should look for other alternatives.
  • Write a bulleted list of 3-5 pros and 3-5 cons for the product

Features & Benefits

600-1000 words broken down into sub-sections for each feature

  • Now start going through the features or core principle of the product and write a section for each explaining both how it performs/feel and why this feature is important (what benefits it provides and how it helps solving the core problem)
    • Example: This laptop is completely fanless which is nice because it makes it 100% silent (I like that when I’m traveling, often surrounded by other people). However, this also means it can heat up a fair bit if the room is too hot.

Social Proof

50 – 100 words

  • Say you scoured the internet and found some user reviews that seemed rather positive
  • Include a screenshot of a few testimonials from users around the web (3-5) that share their journey using the product

Product Alternatives

200 – 300 words

  • list 3 alternatives available for the product
    • <insert alternative 1 here>
    • <insert alternative 2 here>
    • <insert alternative 3 here>
  • For each of them write a paragraph or two on how they differ from the main product reviewed (price, features, benefits, etc) and who should use it then provide a bulleted comparaison list and a call to action for the reader to check the alternative product out

Conclusion

50 – 100 words

  • reiterate the problem the product solves and why it needs to be solved by the reader (complications).
  • give 2-3 reasons why the product reviewed is a great fit to solve that problem
  • conclude telling people to click here to check the product out

Listicle Article Roundup Review (AKA Best X For Y)

The aim of these articles is to grab the attention of people looking for a specific type of product. We’ll take a cross-section of brands offering that product and tell them which one is the best.

These are great for Stage 1 sites as they often have low competition and high buying intent – if someone is searching for one of these types of articles, there’s a good chance they’re looking to put money down on them today.

Description of the post: The goal of this post is to help consumers pick the best product for their needs from a range of options.

For this type of affiliate content you need to:

  • First define the consumer’s need and things to look for in the value section.
  • Carefully evaluate each product and explain how they differentiate from the rest so the readers pick the best ones or his/her personal needs.

📝 Affiliate Round Review Template

Introduction

  • 50 words (include the exact keyword somewhere in here as naturally as possible).

Value Editorial

  • 750 words (break this up into several sections with a subtitle for each).
  • Add some great, value-driven information about this product or the context in which the consumer intends to use it.
  • Answers questions the reader would be asking before buying this kind of product.
  • Consider linking out to valuable informational content on the internet that’d help the reader.
  • Try to find a valuable informational Youtube video about the topic. Make sure the video isn’t branded and doesn’t ask people to go to a specific url at the end.
  • Your subtitles need to be catchy and succinct; most readers will scan your article for the information they want.
  • Here are some subtitle ideas:
    • How to choose the best [type of product].
    • What are the advantages/benefits of [type of product]?
    • Things to look for/attributes that differentiate these products.
    • What’s the best way to use [this type of product]?
    • Address the controversy.
    • Prerequisites/precautions for using this type of product.
  • This section by far the most important. Please take extra care when writing.

Review Affiliate Products

Write a mini-review of each of these products:

  • [Product 1]
  • [Product 2]

How To Write Affiliate Marketing Articles

So now we have our affiliate content templates, there’s just one thing missing: the actual copy.

Fear not though, whether you’ve never written an article in your life or you’re already familiar with the process, a good set of writing guidelines is essential for quality and consistency, so go ahead and grab a copy

Writing And Style

We kick things off with a general style guideline. This should be a casual tone that maintains strong grammar and punctuation. Again, adjust this to your niche -more technical niches won’t be quite as casual for example.

Consistency is also key. It doesn’t matter if you decide to use % instead of percent, or Two instead of 2, as long as you follow through with that commitment every single time.

If you are completely unsure of what to do, the AP Style guidelines give you a great starting point.

Break Down Complex Topics

We’ve already talked about this in the content templates, but just to reiterate, complex topics need to be broken down into easy-to-digest chunks that don’t overwhelm the reader, no matter how technical your niche is.

Organize ideas into sections. Break each section into subsections if that makes sense. Each paragraph should convey one idea. It may make sense to organize sections in sequential order.

Source Your Facts

It’s a no-brainer but it’s easy to pull out facts and figures from your head and forget to back them up.

Never make false claims or assumptions without proper research. Back up ALL your facts with links to evidence preferably from a reliable/reputable site with some authority in the market.

Include all reference links within the content pointing to the exact deep page containing the information, not the top-level domain so we can easily refer to them in the final publication.

And it goes without saying these should be reputable sources – don’t just pull something from Reddit – go to trusted resources only.

Aim For Readability Grade 5-6

This one might shock you, especially if you’re fresh out of college.

You’re actually setting the bar pretty low for readability. Why? It all goes back to readers vs. scanners.

The content needs to be light and easy to digest. That doesn’t mean sixth graders will be reading your article, but rather it should be just as easy to read as sixth graders writing.

Again, remember to adjust this depending on your niche, some niches will require a more complex reading grade.

To check your readability level, you can use a free app called Hemingway

Show Personality

Never be afraid to let this shine through. Anecdotes., personal experiences, and everything in between. Your articles should demonstrate the writer’s (or ghostwriter’s) personality.

This can be done by sharing anecdotes and your own opinions (without being divisive!). You should write in a clear and informal way, almost like you’re talking to a friend—and use pronouns and possessive pronouns (e.g. I, me, we, you, your, my, our) to talk directly to your readers.

If there’s one thing you can bring to the table that competitors can’t, it’s your personality!

Use Short Sentences And Paragraphs

Again, this is a highly stylistic choice that will impact the overall readability and scannability of your articles.

Short sentences and paragraphs are much more effective and easier to read. Stand-alone sentences and single words can work too.

Correct:

“Acne sucks! Tonight’s your cocktail party with the girls and you’ve woken up with the map of a small country on your face in red pimples.

Does this sound familiar?

Well never fear, because we’ve got just the solution!”

Ensure your paragraphs don’t run too long and that sentences lengths are nice and varied.

No Sales Language

This can often happen subconsciously from years of embedded consumerism.

Try to avoid using sale-like language in your articles (and this even applies to your commercial content). It’s highly off putting and breaks the trust between you and your reader.

  • Wrong: “You’ll find peace of mind when your dog finally stops barking!”
  • Wrong: “You can rest easy knowing your dog’s behavior troubles are finally over.”
  • Wrong: Anything else that sounds like it could be in an infomercial

Instead, use conditional language (if, might, could, may, maybe) to make recommendations:

  • Correct: “This might be a good choice for those who want an in-home training option.”
  • Correct: “If it’s important to you to find a positive dog trainer, this may be a good place to start.”

No Passive Language

You should always try to use an Active Voice in your articles too. If you’re not quite sure what this is, check out this guide on the Active Vs Passive Voice

Avoid Technical Jargon

Again, adapt this to your audience. For some, a certain level of jargon will be fine. You don’t need to tell an IT engineer what Wi-Fi means though. Use your common sense and try to lay a common groundwork for an acceptable level of jargon within your articles.

Widen Your Vocabulary

A simple grade school tip: don’t repeat the same word over and over. Use a thesaurus where necessary to spice up your choice of vocable.

  • Wrong: “These running shoes could be a great addition to your running training and may help you achieve great results.”
  • Correct: “These running shoes could be a fantastic addition to your exercise regime and may help you achieve great results.”

No Filler Language

This is another one that people lend to subconsciously do to bump up their word count. Remember, it’s the quality, not the quantity that counts. If you ever find yourself adding in pointless information, ask what you can do to add value instead.

Formatting And Structure

You don’t necessarily need to follow a strict editorial style, however, you should keep all your grammar, punctuation, and formatting consistent.

For example, if you choose to use the % sign instead of spelling the word ‘percent’ then do this throughout all of your articles.

The better job you do of this now, the easier your content uploading will be. You should make good use of the H1, H2., and H3 headers in Word/Docs.

Affiliate Marketing Content Writing Wrapping Up

So this is how to write affiliate marketing articles. Combining all the steps above means your content will be better in general. Little things like this really make a huge difference when it comes to the quality of your content.

And if there is one thing you should focus on over everything else when it comes to content, it’s quality!

With the right guidance and structure, you can turn your content production into a well-oiled machine.

Once you know how to write high-quality content for your site, now it’s time to do affiliate marketing SEO to rank your articles higher on search engines!

Today you’ll learn everything you need to know about SEO affiliate marketing. From audience and topic research to keyword research to writing content to link building.

I wanted this guide as accessible as possible so I’m going to show you today is a process of SEO optimization your affiliate marketing website using only free tools.

The free tool method that I’m going to demonstrate is very effective and this is how I got started as an affiliate marketer blogger.

SEO Affiliate Marketing Process

Here is what we’re going to be covering in this SEO affiliate marketing guide:

  1. Audiene research
  2. Topic research
  3. Keyword research
  4. Outline creation
  5. Writing content
  6. Editing article
  7. SEO on page optimization
  8. Content promotion
  9. Link building

So this is the complete SEO affiliate marketing process and you might be able to add steps to this.

A lot of SEO experts are very fond of breaking things down into many steps into getting really analytical. They just, break it down to the point where it’s almost more complicated than it needs to be.

So hopefully I haven’t done that here but I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases. But keep in mind that this is a very long and labor-intensive process, especially until you get good at it.

And that’s one of the reasons that I recommend using the premium tools that we’ll cover in this affiliate marketing SEO guide.

It’ll save you a lot of time and effort and allow you to really scale your content production, but we’re going to start with the free process.

So without further ado, let’s get into step number one.

1. Audience Research

So step one is audience research, and this is really important. This often doesn’t get covered in SEO tutorials, but it is a very important part of affiliate marketing and SEO.

So the first step is to create your customer avatar or your target audience.

customer avatar worksheet

And basically what this means is that you need to really understand the person or people to who you’re trying to market in your affiliate marketing blogging business.

So presumably if you’re writing blogs and you’re doing so in a professional business context, you’re either trying to sell your own products or services or in this case, you’re trying to sell an affiliate product or service. There are really not many other reasons that people consistently write high-quality affiliate blog posts.

And so in order to create content in order to write a blog post or an article that’s actually going to motivate people to buy what you’re promoting you need to really understand who they are and what they need.

So how do you do that?

Join Communities

Well, the first step I like is to join communities your target audience or your customer avatar is involved.

So my recommended resources for this step are:

  • Quora
  • Reddit
  • Forums

And other places that your target audience hangs up.

Get The Product Your Want To Promote

You can also buy the products that they love, which is really good because that allows you to go through the sales funnel for the product and see how it’s being sold.

And it also lets you experience the product and understand why they might like it. You can also read product reviews on websites like Amazon, AppSumo if you’re promoting software.

appsumo review example

If there’s an online course related to your niche then you could read reviews on a site like Udemy and basically, you want to walk a mile in their shoes.

Join Email List of Your Competitiors

You can also sign up for mailing lists that they’re likely to be on. So simply go to websites they’re likely to visit, sign up for the email lists, and see how other marketers are communicating with them.

2. Topic Research

Before you can write content for your affiliate marketing website, you must understand the topic. And if you don’t understand the topic, you’ll waste time and you’ll turn your fact-checking process into a laborious nightmare.

So I really recommend that you do some topic research before you even consider getting into writing on a topic.

And the thing is that if you understand a topic, you’ll be able to create better content than anyone who has less knowledge than you.

I’m not saying you will create the best content on the internet. I’m saying that you will be capable of creating better content than people who have less knowledge.

And this is one reason why specializing or niching down choosing a specific niche and staying in it is a good one.

And my recommended resources for this section are:

  • Google search
  • Google Trends
  • YouTube
  • Quora
  • Reddit
  • Online communities

And other sources of information to learn about whatever topic it is that you may want to research.

I’m sure that you know how to do general topic research.

3. Keyword Research

Ranking your content can be a tough business without the right keyword research process. The goal of keyword research is to find popular search terms that are related to what you are selling.

This allows for better visibility on the web, which will help you reach more potential customers. To successfully do keyword research, there are some important tips you should keep in mind.

So right now I’m going to share with you some quick tips to get you started but if you want to see a process how to do it the right way I’ve put together a step by step guide on affiliate marketing keyword research where I describe in detail 5 ways to perform keyword research using only free tools.

Keyword Search Volume

You want to make sure your keywords have enough demand so that they bring traffic to your site. If not, then it’s a waste of time doing them.

Competition

In addition, you also need to know how much competition there is for each term. This will help determine if it makes sense to invest money in SEO.

For this, you can use some of the affiliate marketing spy tools to see what your competitors are doing.

If you take your time and follow these strategies for finding profitable keywords, you will see an increase in sales and revenue over time.

Head Term vs Long Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords tend to get less search volume but usually higher conversion rates than head terms since. They’re often very specific and target niche audiences so these are more likely to convert into sales or leads.

Head term broad keyword phrases may take longer to rank on SERPs because they carry much weight on search engines.

So when choosing which ones to focus on, make sure they fit with what you want to achieve from an ROI perspective.

Avoid Keyword Over Optimization

When it comes to keyword optimization you have to keep in mind that there is such a thing as over-optimization.

And what I mean by over-optimization is that it’s possible to use a specific keyword or a group of keywords too frequently in an article. And then Google and other search engines will consider it keyword stuffing, and they’ll deprioritize it in the index.

If you want to do keyword optimization manually to an already written article is you just go through the article and you try and find opportunities of places where you can use those keywords.

💡 Pro Tip

If you want to do advanced keyword optimization, it is much, much easier when you use a premium tool like WriterZen which is a really powerful keyword research and content creation software that costs a lot less than most premium SEO tools out there.

4. Article Outline Creation

Let’s move on to the next step which is outline creation. So a good outline will set you up for success and reduce the amount of time that you need to spend on writing your affiliate articles.

Structure Your Article

You should have only one H1 in your article and it should be your main topic including the main keyword.

For example, my H1 and title tag for this article is affiliate marketing SEO.

Your H2s should be subtopics of the main topic and should include relevant keywords as well. Not always, but in general, it’s a good idea for most of them too.

And your H3s should be sub subtopics, also known as subtopics of the subtopics, which helped to provide more information and more context about the things that you’re talking about in your H2s as you can see here from the SemRush article on how to use header tags for SEO.

article structure

And if it makes sense for the flow of the article, it’s a good idea to have high-volume search terms, high volume keywords used in your H2 and H3s.

And the more that you put them towards the top of the article, the more there’ll be a priority.

For example: “Affiliate Marketing SEO: The Ultimate Guide” would be better than the “Ultimate Guide To Affiliate Marketing SEO” because the main keyword is in front of the title.

But don’t do that in a way that sacrifices the article’s flow or the article’s overall quality. So don’t sacrifice readability or quality just to trim keywords. That’s not what you want to do.

Create Complelling Title To Improve CTR

And another really important note is to put some effort and thought into your title to improve your click-through rate.

It’s really important because if you don’t have a good title no one’s going to want to read the rest of the article.

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Use numbers in your headline
  • Ask a question to spark quriosity
  • Use emotion and power words
  • Determine the benefits for the readers
  • Use data to to make your article more enticing

And when you’re creating an outline, you want to make sure that you get it right, but you don’t want to spend too much time here because otherwise, you can start to suffer from paralysis by analysis and that is not what we want.

All right. Let’s move on to the next step which is article drafting.

5. Writing Affiliate Content

Now, this is where you actually get to do some writing. And here you want to choose the type of content based on search intent:

  • Product reviews
  • Product comparisions
  • Listicles
  • How to articles
  • PDFs

You can also create a video if you’re trying to rank your videos higher on Youtube or Google.

And different people have different approaches to content writing.

I prefer to write with a top-down method, for the most part, meaning I start with the hook and the introduction, and then I go to my first H2, and then I do any subtopics of that in H3s.

And I just work my way down, writing the article in kind of the logical order – the order that people are most likely to read it in.

If I have an idea for something that comes further down into the article, I won’t hesitate to jump down and work on it, but then I usually go back and continue working down in a top-down way.

For me, that’s just the most logical and the easiest way to do it but if you find that it makes more sense to write certain parts first, go ahead and do that.

There’s no 100% percent right way to write an article.

Include Main Keyword in Your Title Tag

And you can try to use the keywords from the headings in the main content as well.

So for example, if I want to use “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners”, ideally, I should use all of those keywords at some point in the main content, not just in the heading.

And then in the main content, you also want to use any keywords that you weren’t able to use in the headings.

And just a couple of general notes about content writing.

Use Short Paragraphs & Structure Data

You want to use short paragraphs punchy sentences where possible and have structured data such as lists and tables to break things down and make it easier to look at and easier to absorb the information.

People who skim through articles tend to have a much easier time with shorter paragraphs and with tables and lists so those are really good things to include.

Implement Copywriting Formulas

Remember each section is responsible for getting the readers to continue to the next section and the next sentence. So make sure that it has a logical flow to it. And for this, you can use some copywriting frameworks like:

  • PAS
  • AIDA
  • BAB
  • The 4 C’s
  • The 4 U’s

Article Writing Resources

And my recommended resources here are just Google docs and Google sheets. You can get a premium Google Workspace account which is better than just a regular free Gmail Google Drive account, but you can also use this 100% for free.

💡 Pro Tip

If you’re struggling to write content for your affiliate site, you can use tools such as Jasper.ai which is the best AI writer available in the market, or Article Forge 3.0 which is an article generator that can spit out an entire article from just a headline.

6. Article Editing

So once you have your document written, it’s time to move on to editing your affiliate article. And for this, I recommend Google docs still and Grammarly, and the Hemingway app.

And while I think it’s important to use these apps, keep in mind, the editing is not just about scoring high on Grammarly or Hemingway. Editing is not about pleasing an app.

Editing is about creating an article that people human beings will enjoy reading and will get engaged when they read because if they don’t get engaged when they read it, they’re probably going to stop reading it.

And because of this, I always recommend reading out loud to newer writers and I often recommend it to experienced writers because if you read your content to yourself out loud, it really helps you get a feel for the flow and the sound and the tonality.

And that’s going to make it easier for you to really do a good job of editing it and create a finished product that people are going to have an easy time reading.

Hemingway App recommends a whole slew of different corrections, such as passive voice, how to simplify phrases, how to make things easier to read, how to use fewer adverbs, stuff like that.

Hemingway App

Then Grammarly is more of a spelling and grammar checker, but it also has on the premium version a plagiarism checker, which is great.

And if you have Grammarly premium or you have access to another plagiarism checking tool, then I highly recommend at the end using the plagiarism check tool.

But as long as you’re sure that you’re writing original content, this isn’t strictly necessary, but it is a good idea to check for plagiarism, even if you’re pretty sure.

That even if you know that everything you wrote is your own writing, you might have inadvertently mimicked something that you read or you might have just completely by chance written something very similar to something that someone else wrote so it’s always a good idea to do a plagiarism check.

7. SEO On Page Optimization

Now we’re on to the next step which is SEO on-page optimization of your article.

Ever wondered why your web page looks like it ranks well for a specific keyword but never shows up on Google?

Well, it’s because you need to optimize your article for on-page SEO and is the process of improving the visibility of a web page in search engine results directly on your website.

But where does one start?

The first step for on-page optimization is to publish your article. You can’t optimize what’s not there yet. For effective publishing, you need a website.

For this, you can use some of the affiliate marketing website builders or CMS like WordPress which is free to use however, you need to have premium hosting

If you’re using WordPress, you also want a good theme because if you have a good WordPress theme, it’ll present the content in an appealing and easy-to-read format basically automatically.

The themes that I recommend are Astra, Kadence, or Thrive Themes that many affiliate marketers use.

Include Images, Videos, and Audio

When publishing your content it’s important that you include images and video and audio elements where appropriate.

So images and videos, and even audio can help you rank, but they also really help improve the user experience because the thing is some people who are going to find your blog post would probably rather watch a video or listen to audio.

Some people just prefer that even if they go to a blog post expecting to have to read it if there’s a video or audio there, they’re going to enjoy that more. And that’s going to make them more engaged.

It’s going to make them more likely to stay on the page, which is good for affiliate marketing SEO.

And ultimately it’s going to make them more likely to buy whatever you’re promoting, which is the end result that we’re going after.

Take Advantage of Internal Linking

Also when you’re publishing, you want to link internally to relevant resources and the products or services on your website that you’re promoting.

So internal links are very important for SEO. You want to have internal links going from your post to other pages on your website, and you want to have internal links going from other pages to your new posts, but it’s important that you only use internal links where relevant.

For example, if I’m writing an article about “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners”, and I have an article on my blog about “affiliate marketing strategies” if there’s a section in my article on “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners”, where I talk about affiliate marketing strategies, it would make sense to link from that section to my other articles.

And the same applies to internal links that are coming from other posts to your new posts.

Now, if you want to get really into how internal linking works and best practices for it, I recommend that you watch this video from Ahrefs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tbDkc3k48E

Link Externally To Relevant Resources

And for external links, you just want to make sure that you’re only linking to really relevant and authoritative resources, for example, one thing can do is it in my article on affiliate marketing SEO, I could link to like a Wikipedia page or another really high authority website that explained what SEO is.

And of course, if you’re doing an affiliate post, you can also include external links to the affiliate product, just to make sure that you are setting those external links to affiliate products, to no follow and to sponsor because that’s what the search engines want you to do. And they may deprioritize you a little bit if you don’t do that.

Submit Your Post To Google Search Console

And once all that’s done, once the post is beautifully published on your website. then you can submit the URL to Google Search Console.

You can just come to the Google Search Console, you paste the URL that you want to index. It’ll bring up a page like this.

google search console indexing

Then you click on “Request Indexing”, and that is basically the fastest way to get your article indexed quickly.

8. Content Promotion

Once your article is published on your affiliate marketing website, now we are onto the final step which is promotion. Now a lot of search engine optimizers seem to forget that this exists and it really hurts them.

Share Your Content on Social Media

The first thing you can do to promote your content is to share it on social media. This will help increase the number of people who see and read your article, which in turn increases its chances of being shared by others.

You should also use a variety of different platforms like Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest so that your audience has as many opportunities as possible to view your work. The more places they have access to your content, the better chance there is for them to find it.

Promote via Email Marketing

Affiliate email marketing can also be a great tool when promoting your site. You can send an email broadcast announcing upcoming events, special offers, etc., which could lead to more traffic coming to your site. Make sure that these emails don’t contain any spammy content though; otherwise, they may end up being flagged as such by some of your subscribers.

Leverage Paid Advertising

If you have a budget, then consider using some form of paid promotion. There are many different ways to do so, but some of the most popular options right now are Facebook ads or Google ads. These can be used to target specific groups or demographics within your audience.

Syndicate Your Content

You can also use platforms like Medium to syndicate your articles across multiple websites. When someone shares one of your pieces on their site, it helps drive traffic back to your own page. The best part? It doesn’t cost anything extra to do so.

Get Featured on Other Sites

Another way to get exposure for your blog or website is through guest blogging. By writing an original post about something related to your niche, you’ll be able to attract new readers from all over the world. If you want to make sure that this strategy works well for you, try to write posts with unique angles and perspectives.

Take Advantage of Cross Promotion

And finally, you can leverage cross-promotion, and what I mean by cross-promotion is just getting other people to promote your content in exchange for you promoting their content.

Now, you don’t want to do this at scale. You don’t want to be like someone who will promote anyone in exchange for them promoting you. But if you have some friends who are in the same industry as you and you get along with them, there’s no reason for you not to share theirs and then not to share yours, it’s going to help you both grow.

So that is a content promotion in a nutshell for SEO affiliate marketing.

💡 Pro Tip

For promotion and just for posting to my own social media, I use Ocoya, which is not just a scheduling tool but an all-in-one social media platform that also includes graphic creator, tracking, as well as AI copywriting tool for your social media captions. It integrates with social media platforms including Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Google My Business, Twitter, and all of the major social media sites. So it makes it really easy to just share your posts every day on a schedule and you can kind of set that and forget it.

9. Link Building

Let’s talk about link building today. And because links lead to better rankings and rankings lead to more traffic, and traffic generally leads to more money.

What you have seen in the past is you’ve seen actual services that allow you to do things like buy links and buy guest posts and do some things that are a clear violation of Google’s terms of service.

And just to be clear for this link building for affiliate sites model, we’re talking about only the white hat SEO which is essentially just following the Google terms of service, producing a better experience for the user, producing better content, and ranking naturally as a result.

Black hat SEO methods involve buying links, link farms, and anything in between.

You’ve got things like private blog networks or PBNs that have sprung up over the years where people build these giant networks of content sites that have a bunch of junky content on them and they eventually cross-link them all in some fancy way, all the way back to the money site or whatever.

All of these are examples of link schemes that have worked in the past and may still work today but it’s not a great way to build a sustainable search marketing practice.

It’s really getting harder and harder to wear the black hat.

I keep coming back to this quote from Matt Cutts the former head of search quality at Google:

The objective is to not “make your links appear natural”; the objective is that your links are natural.

So any sort of manipulation that you’re doing needs to be really nice and above the board and not feel spammy at all.

Link Building – Quality Over Quanity

Today links are about quality over quantity. So links from big, authoritative sites like the newyorktimes.com or university sites are always great to get links from.

And the premise here is any link coming off of authoritative websites, the search engines have deemed these as being sites that would never link to something spammy.

And remember that one of Google’s main objectives is to remove spam from its index so that it doesn’t serve spam to its user so that the user stays on the site longer and uses Google more so that.

So they are purging as much as they can any spam from their index and anybody that’s getting a link from these really reputable sites is very unlikely to be a spammer.

Relevance Over Quanity

In this example, you have the Huffington Post vs TechCrunch linking to a software startup company called Slack.

link building relevance over quanity

So Huffingtonpost really strong site and TechCrunch less powerful site and it’d be great to get a link from Huffington post if you’re a software company, but probably even better to get that link from TechCrunch because it’s more relevant.

Tech crunch is more about software startup space than a Huffingtonpost is. So if I was Slack I would rather receive this more relevant link from TechCrunch than receive, a link from the Huffingtonpost, but if I could, I’d get them both.

Follow Over No-Follow

Links that come off of pages that have the meta content equals no-follow tag on them are not going to pass as much or maybe zero what we call link juice to you.

If you see a link with no follow tag that means they are essentially telling the search engine don’t follow this link. Don’t interpret this link as me vouching for that site.

You’ll see these no-follow links being used on things like social media sites. For example sites like Twitter is not going to allow us to spam up Twitter with links just to get, you know, more links.

So what they do is they add that no-follow tag and that reduces the spam big-time that’s going through Twitter.

If Twitter links were follow links, there would be significantly larger amounts of people on their links back to Twitter.

Same with comments. By default when you leave comments on a WordPress site, generally, they’re going to link up your name with whatever website and those links will be no-followed so essentially there are worthless for link building for affiliates sites.

You can change that if you want and allow followed links from your comments but in an effort to reduce link spamming because it became very easy to find WordPress sites that allowed you to just comment and drop links into those comments.

So you’re looking for followed links. You’re looking for relevance, you’re looking for quality, um, and last, but certainly still important is the quantity of the links that you have.

Link building for affiliates sites is a crucial component to rank higher on Google and other search engines.

There are many ways to get quality backlinks for your affiliate website but not all methods work well with every site or niche.

Some require lots of time while others can be done quickly without much effort. If you want to know which method works best for affiliate marketing then read this guide carefully.

First, let’s take a look at the big picture and the 3 players in the SEO game. So we have;

  • The searcher
  • The search engine
  • The business (or you – the marketer)

What motivates the robot or the search engine whether it’s Google, Bing, or Yahoo?

Well, all of these search engines however they are monetizing – they want revenue. Usually through advertising.

In order to do that they want to serve relevant and popular results to that searcher so that they can make more money.

Essentially, they want to keep searchers on web properties that they own so that they can make more revenue.

search engine

Now, the one we’re going to be really focusing on in this tutorial is this idea that the search engine wants to serve popular results, in order to keep that searcher satisfied and so that they’ll make them more revenue by clicking on ads or however it is they monetize that search engine.

Now, I want to talk to you about white hat vs black hat link building.

Black Hat vs White Hat Link Building For Affiliate Marketing

A lot of search engine marketers are terrified of Penguin, Panda, and Hummingbirds, and all of these Google updates.

And the reason is because the Penguin update is the one that came in and really hammered anybody that was doing any sort of shady link building or earned media link schemes, buying links, all of these different horrible things that we won’t be covering in this tutorial.

And so the Penguin update really sort of ended the Black link-building tactics. So everything that we’re going to do in this tutorial is going to stay congruent with what Google wants.

Matt Cutts is the head of Google’s Team, he’s been around forever and this is a really great quote from him that sums up how Google thinks about links:

matt cutts quote

So, it’s become sort of this game of gaming this system and making links look like you naturally just are that good that these many people are pointing at you.

And that’s what we’re going to be working on in this link building for affiliates sites tutorial is how to actually gain links in the way that Google wants you to do it.

And how to gain natural links that lead to higher rankings and then traffic and then more leads and sales for your affiliate website.

So everything that we’re going to be covering in this module, is going to be white hat as opposed to grey hat or black hat. We’re going to be talking about how to naturally build links for a sustainable SEO process that you can put in place for your business.

1. Competetive Research

The first method to build links for your affiliate site is to simply do some competitive research and find the links that are the low-hanging fruit.

Let’s say I’m running an affiliate photography blog and I want to find more links. I’m going to go in and I’m going to take a large photography blog like digital-photography-school.com and I’m going to put it into Moz Link Explorer and then I’m going to export all of that backlink profile.

open site explorer backlinks

Now I can work through it and see if I can find links that I can just get right. So from other people’s blogs that I might reach out to them and say:

“Hey I run this blog”

So it’s a great place for you to find the links that your competitors already have. That would be really easy low-hanging fruit for you.

And you do that by going into a tool, Moz Link Explorer, and running that link profile on your competitors and then literally going through those links and finding the low-hanging fruit.

If you find directories just simply submit to those, if you find other places where it would be simple and easy for you to pick up a link, you go ahead and do that.

So this is the first easiest way to pick up large quantities of links. All right. Now, let’s talk about creating generous content.

2. Crowdsourced Posts

Crowdsourced post is content that mentions other people and especially influential people in your niche that could link back to you or share the content out to their social networks.

So when you do a crowdsource post, what you’re doing is you’re going out and you’re reaching out to a number of different people, asking them the same question, and then aggregating those results together.

In other words, you’re putting a lot of different influential people on the same page.

This is a crowdsource post from Digital Marketer that aggregates “32 Split Testing Ideas From 4 of the World’s Leading Conversion Experts” on the same page. And these are the kinds of posts that pickup links very, very easily because you’ve got all these different experts on there.

crowdsourced post example

So you get people outside of these experts that will link to the post because it’s a solid piece of content. But then you actually get the experts themselves that will often either share it out on social media or link to it.

So, for this link building method essentially you’re going to put:

  • Headline
  • Introduction
  • Headshots

And you’re going to aggregate all of their responses and then move on to the next person then aggregate their response.

Here is a template you can follow:

crowdsourced post template

It’s multiple experts answering the same question you aggregate those together and these posts tend to pick up a lot of links.

3. Interview Post

Now, the interview post is another template that you can use to pick up links. So when you start running an interview series on your blog, first of all, you’re creating really stellar content assuming you’re interviewing good people and have solid interviewing skills.

Here you’re going to do a headline, you’re going to do a quick introduction of the topic and the expert and link to their blog, link to their Twitter or Linkedin profile, or something like that.

And then you’re either going to do a text interview, a video interview or an audio interview and these posts tend to pick up links as well.

Here is a template you can follow for an interview type post:

interview post template

4. Quote Post

The quote post is also another fantastic way to pick up links. Here you don’t even need permission to do this one since you’re going to take quotes from experts and aggregate them together.

So pick a topic aggregate the quotes together from a number of different experts. They could be experts in fitness, experts in home improvement, experts in financial planning whatever your affiliate niche.

You’re going to go through and find things that these experts said about this particular topic and then you want to go out and tag those people in social media, you want to drum up, buzz around the fact that you’ve aggregated the thoughts of a number of different industry experts about a particular topic.

quote post template

So those are three great post types to use when you’re creating content that is intended to pick up links.

Now. Let’s talk about creating particular types of content that we would call link bait.

5. Link Bait

Let’s talk about building links using something called link bait and link baits have gotten kind of a bad name over the years.

What link bait is it’s really just any asset that you produce, that’s really just intended to build links, but I can tell you that the best kind of linkbait is the kind that your audience just absolutely loves and it’s very useful.

You can do things like tools. For example, Canva did something like Color Wheel which got thousands of links.

adobe color wheel

This is a great tool that you can use to pick out hex colors and RGB colors and things like that.

If you’re in design and need a color wheel, which is something that is very connected to Canva tools then, you’re going to want to use Canva color.

So tools are really great things to attract links.

6. Epic Blog Posts

Usually, the higher word counts the more words that you have at a blog post that the tendency is for that post to get more backlinks than posts with less words as you can read in this study by Ahrefs.

correlation between word count and referring domains

The idea here is that creating something that is as thorough as for example, Yoast’s WordPress SEO Tutorial which is, literally so long that it got an entire table of contents to it. This method is also known as the skyscraper technique.

These kinds of epic end-all-be-all ultimate guide posts tend to pick up a lot of links.

7. Creating Controversy

Creating controversy will pick up a lot of links. People will cite and source what you’ve been talking about on your site if you can be controversial.

So, for example, Mark Schaefer from businessesgrow.com came up with this concept called “content shock”

content shock

And it’s pretty controversial in the content marketing space. And so, a lot of people cited this article because of the controversy that it started.

Really anything about politics is going to start as good as it’s going to be controversial.

Now, we’re going to start talking about earning links using one of the best types of link bait which is primary research.

8. Primary Research

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, who’s very interested in SEO and he was telling me that if he was going to start a new agency right now that his agency would do nothing but build primary research for their clients because it is such a great piece of link bait.

So primary research like this study from Backlinko analyzed 912 million blog posts.

backlinko study

This kind of content is so rare to find that in and it’s in such demand to find actual data actual like graphs and charts, and things like that.

So it’s very rare to find good solid primary research and it’s very much in demand but if your business can produce some actual primary research, you’re virtually guaranteed to start getting links for your affiliate site.

9. Getting Out More

One of the best ways to start getting more links is to start getting out there more, for example, giving more interviews.

One of the things that start to happen, when you start giving people interviews online is you tend to get more interviews.

So, if you start doing podcast interviews, you’ll start picking up links if you start giving text interviews, you’ll pick up links, and the more you do interviews, the more interviews, you’ll get.

You can also give more quotes and participate in things like quote posts in your niche.

Find out who’s producing content because there’s going to be somebody in some group of people that are producing content in your industry and your niche and they probably looking for expert quotes and interviews.

And when you contribute that stuff, you can expect a link back.

Another great way to pick up more interviews and more invitations is to speak from the stage. Nothing better than getting out there and speaking from the stage.

you can also get involved in charities and communities in your surrounding community.

And so, those kinds of things just naturally lead to more press and more links and we earn more media that way.

So get involved, find some true way to start giving back to your community and you’ll see that that will pay.

It will pay dividends through the actual mainstream press, more links, things like that.

And especially if you don’t do it just for that reason, you’ll find that you’ll actually get more out of it.

10. Internal Linking

Building links that is most under your control is the internal linking that you’re doing on your own site. So consider cross-linking, anywhere that makes sense to your visitor.

And remember that the search engines are pretty much in lockstep with the user experience of your actual human visitor and they try to mimic that in their algorithm.

There used to be this rule where it was like we don’t want to link off this page too many times because it’ll leak page rank off of the page and we don’t want to link to other sites certainly and we wouldn’t want to link to another blog or somebody else’s product page or whatever because we don’t want to leak link juice off of the page or page rank off of the page.

I don’t subscribe to that at all, and I would encourage you to any place that you feel like a cross-linked makes sense to your visitor include the crosslink.

So cross-linked to your other content cross-link to your affiliate pages, cross link to other people’s content, cross-linked wherever it makes sense for the user and you will win.

11. Newsjacking

The last Link building strategy is newsjacking. And the first thing if you’re going to try to employ this strategy, you need to be listening to industry news. You need to be connected.

One of the best ways to do that is through Twitter and just kind of staying on top of who’s tweeting about what because Twitter tends to be sort of the nervous system of the internet.

You need to be ready to build assets, sort of at a moment’s notice. So newsjacking is about jumping on the back of things that are trending.

Now whether it’s in your industry or something related to your industry, or something that you find a creative way to connect to your industry, it can pay to be first in line. The first person to produce something.

For example, Digital Marketer jumped on the sort of announcement that Facebook was coming out with something called Facebook Flex Targeting 99% of the world could care less.

But the small percentage of people that do care about this was kind of a big deal.

And so when it launched, they were quick to publish about it and they published essentially with a post that was just Facebook Flex Targeting guide.

digital marketer facebook flex targeting

So you want to practice what I call Agile SEO or having a content team that is agile and ready to pounce on things as the scenarios are changing.

And I’m talking about within 24 hours of things happening that you are able to produce an asset, get it out there, have it optimized, get it out into different channels and optimize for that search intent.

So agile SEO is all about being ready to pounce on things as scenarios change and producing assets, and being quick. To get them published in different channels.

So practice, agile, SEO, or don’t. but this could be a really great way to pick up links because you’ll be one of the only sources of information out there about something if you can, stay on top of producing assets quickly.

Link Building For Affiliate Sites Wrapping Up

So this is how to build links for your affiliate site. Links from other sites play a part huge in establishing visibility on your website. And as you can see the links themselves can be built through a variety of methods.

I hope this guide will help get some high-quality links and take your SEO game to the next level and dominate your niche

So, what if you could see working ad campaigns that are out there that your competitors are doing in real-time, would that help you be a better marketer? Today we’re going to dive into the best spy tools for affiliate marketing and how you can leverage them to find winning creatives for your own ads.

Spy tools are great if you want to get inspired by what other people are doing on the internet for their brands and their business.

Affiliates use it to see what other affiliates are using for their ad creatives to promote affiliate products and see what other competitors are doing.

In this guide, we’re going to cover some of the common best affiliate marketing spy tools and some other things you can do to get your brain spinning on creative ideas for affiliate marketing paid traffic.

So, let’s dive in.

1. BigSpy

BigSpy is one of the best spying tools for affiliate marketing. BigSpy can show you all kinds of insights about what your competitors are doing on their website, which products they’re promoting, how many keywords they are ranking for, and more.

It’s great that there’s a free option for this tool but it doesn’t give you very many inquiries a day and it’s limited to Facebook ads, which honestly that’s where a lot of people want anyways.

With the basic plan, you get up to Facebook and Instagram, and then you can start a 3 day $1 trial for the Pro plan to get access to all the networks that they have access to.

2. SemRush

SemRush is not just one of the best competitor analysis tools but an all-in-one SEO platform that is suited for solo entrepreneurs as well as big companies.

The Biggest benefit of SemRush is that it gives you information about your competitors’ websites. It shows what keywords they are ranking for, how many backlinks they have to their site, and also analyzes paid traffic campaigns.

They also offer a free trial for our readers.

3. SimilarWeb

A really similar platform to SemRush is SimilarWeb. SimilarWeb is a free market research tool that is going to tell you based on a domain where that domain is getting traffic from.

similar web analysis

So, if you want to look at a competitor, you can get an idea of what kind of search terms they’re getting, what kind of ads they’re running.

SimilarWeb is more designed for bigger brands that might be leveraging content marketing, looking to acquire organic search terms, and want to get an idea of what blog articles are out there ranking for a competitor.

They still do spy tools from an ad creative basis, but that’s not their core functionality.

They go a bit broader than that. You get a bigger view into searching organic traffic and social media versus just ads, which kind of Big Spy and AdSpy were.

SimilarWeb Pricing

SimilarWeb plans cost between $199.00 and $799.00 per month but the free option is available.

4. PowerAdSpy

PowerAdSpy is hands down one of the most advanced spying tools available in the market.

Inside the dashboard, you get options to research for your competitors on platforms like:

poweradspy ad examples

It will give you information about top-performing ad campaigns, which ads are getting the best ROI for your competitors, and what type of ad creatives they’re using.

This will give you an idea about which ad copies to create in order to get better results on affiliate marketing or any other online business that you may be involved with.

But what makes PowerAdSpy stands out among other spying tools are very unique features like:

  • Native ads spy tools
  • YouTube ads spy tool
  • Dispplay ads spy tool

And even Reddit and Quora spy tools.

Big brands use PowerAdSpy to spy on their competitors but it is affordable enough that smaller affiliates can also take advantage of this tool to get better results for their affiliate marketing campaigns.

PowerAdSpy also has a Chrome extension that allows you to test out ad creatives in real-time.

PowerAdSpy Pricing

  • Free – $0/month

5. AdSpy

Another one of the best spying tools for affiliate marketing is Adspy, which shows you real-time ads and creatives from your competitors.

They have some very interesting features.

AdSpy features

AdSpy is pretty similar to Big Spy however it doesn’t have as many spying features.

With AdSpy you can filter down into different types of social media channels or different niches.

So, if you have an offer for a pet, you can try to filter down to other people targeting pets and see what kind of ads they are running.

You can see what promotions they’re running, the type of ad creative being used, and a lot more insights about how well their ads are converting.

With Adspy you’ll get to know your competitors better which will help give you an edge in affiliate marketing or any other digital business that you may be involved with online today.

AdSpy Pricing

AdSpy has one pricing option, which is $149 a month.

Best Affiliate Spy Tools Final Words

So here are the best affiliate marketing spy tools. As of now, the best ones are BigSpy and PowerAdSpy.

My intent is not to like just push you into these tools, these are just examples of good true spy tools. There are many free tools for affiliates that you can use in your business.

They can be a very good way for a marketing team or just for your own self to get going and kind of get inspired by, and get ideas from. The bad way to use this in my opinion is to just go, rip off other people’s marketing ideas and not change anything which you’ll see some people do, which I wish people would stop doing. So, use these as you will.

So do some research, figure out one that fits best for you, which one has the best-paid version, and see what works best before you buy.

And I’d love to know what you’re using for a spy tool or what you like about the ones that I’ve featured that maybe you’ve tried out.

The post Affiliate Marketing Keyword Research 2023 [5 Free Ways] appeared first on businessolution.org.

]]>
Today, I’m going to show you 5 ways to do affiliate marketing keyword research using only free tools.

Regulars to this blog know that I’m a big fan of marketing automation and premium tools that make our lives easier.

However, I know that not everyone is going to be able to have access to all of the SEO tools to start an affiliate marketing website. Some people are just getting started and need to have a free option as well.

So I wanted to make this guide as accessible as possible so for this keyword research for affiliate marketing tutorial, we’re going to be using:

  • Google search (SERP analysis)
  • Answer The Public
  • Keywords Everywhere
  • SEO Minion
  • Ubersugget

SEO Minion and Keywords Everywhere are both free Chrome Extensions. Answer The Public and UberSuggest are free keyword research tools.

SERP Analysis

So the first thing that we’re going to do is to start by searching your main topics in Google and taking note of recommended searches and people also ask.

The topic that I’m going to be working with you on is “affiliate marketing for beginners”

Now, this is a highly competitive, highly coveted topic. Lots of people try to rank for this and want to rank for this as well. And that’s why I picked this topic for this affiliate marketing keyword research tutorial.

So I searched for “affiliate marketing for beginners” and as you can see, on the Google SERP results we’ve got Ahrefs ranking number one.

google serp affiliate marketing for beginners

People Also Ask

And then we have this section called “People also ask” which includes a bunch of common questions that people also search on Google.

And if you expand these questions in the section you get the answer and then when you collapse them again, you’ll actually have more questions than before.

people also ask

So what I’m going to do is I’m going to expand and collapse all of these so that I just get a huge list of questions. Maybe I won’t do all of them because it’s starting to get off topic a little bit, but basically, any that you like, you can expand and see the answer and then collapse and it’ll open up some more beneath it.

And then I’m just going to copy all of these questions and paste them into my Google Docs.

people also ask section - google docs

Usually, I don’t do this a lot because I have tools that do this for me and make it a lot faster like Frase.io but we’ll get into those at the end. For now, we’re just going to cover how to do it for free.

So anyway, now I’ve got all these great people also ask questions in my document.

And so let’s just take a look at what we’ve got here:

  • Which affiliate program is best for beginners?
  • How much do beginner affiliate marketers make?
  • Is affiliate marketing easy?
  • Are affiliate programs free?
  • How can I become a free affiliate?
  • Can you get rich with affiliate marketing?
  • How do affiliates get paid?
  • Does affiliate marketing work in 2021?

And more.

You don’t necessarily have to answer all of these questions in my article, but it would be a good idea to answer most of them.

And in fact, it would be a good idea to answer most of them explicitly, meaning potentially use these as subheadings, and then explicitly answer the question beneath the subheading.

All right so that is one place that you can mind for data. You can just do a search and then expand the people also ask questions and copy the questions and those make really good ideas for keywords.

Bottom Of a Google SERP – Related Topics

And then if you come down to the bottom of the SERP, you’ll find that there’s also a list of recommended related searches.

serp related searches

So you can use this to inform the intent of your article and to understand what people are searching for that is similar.

For example, this one is “how to start affiliate marketing with no money” which is very related to affiliate marketing for beginners.

So I might use that in my title so it will be “How to start affiliate marketing for beginners 2022” and I want to make sure that my title tag is 50-60 characters.

This one has 51 characters so it is an acceptable length. It could be a little bit longer, but as long as it’s under 60 characters it’s short enough to be viewed in the search results.

So now I have my title and I’ve got a bunch of questions I can potentially use for subheadings and to just generally inform my content.

Where do we go from here?

Now that we’ve taken note of the related searches and people also ask questions, the next method is to use what’s called “alphabet soup.

So I go to Google search and type in “affiliate marketing for” then I’ve got all these other keyword recommendations.

affiliate marketing alphabet soup

So we have:

  • Affiliate marketing for Amazon
  • Affiliate marketing for businesses
  • Affiliate marketing forums
  • Affiliate marketing for bloggers
  • Affiliate marketing for free

This is why it’s called alphabet soup, by the way, because you can just go “affiliate marketing a…” and then you get all these keyword recommendations.

Then you can go “affiliate marketing b” and you get other keyword recommendations.

And you can go through the entire alphabet this way and get a ton of long-tail keyword recommendations.

And these long-tail keywords could be subheadings within this article on “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners” that I’m writing.

Or they could be the titles of separate articles which would act as a supporting article for my main article as cluster content and that way have something called content hub.

So that’s one way to do alphabet soup and you can also do it from the beginning from A-Z, and these are either subtopics that I can address in my article or there are things that I can turn into their own articles.

So that is the alphabet soup method and that’s a really good free method to find long-tail keywords that you can target in your SEO affiliate marketing post.

Answer The Public

The next way to do keyword research for affiliate marketing is by using Answer The Public which is another great free keyword research tool.

Basically, you put it in a topic in this case “affiliate marketing” and it’s going to actually mind Google for you and pull up a whole bunch of related questions.

answer the public

So these are all long-tail keywords that people search for even if they’re not necessarily all high volume. These are all topics and subtopics of affiliate marketing that people are interested in.

So this is a really powerful keyword research tool and I highly recommend that you use it, especially if you don’t have access to premium keyword research tools like SE Ranking.

Keywords Everywhere

The next method to perform keyword research for affiliate marketing is to use Keywords Everywhere which is a free SEO Chrome extension.

So to get started, inside the Chrome Web Store, you just need to add the Keywords Everywhere extension to your browser and you’re good to go.

You can also pin them to make them more accessible.

And so if I searched for this again, now that I have Keywords Everywhere installed, it’s going to give me a bunch of data at the bottom.

keywords everywhere - related keywords

So here we have related keywords, people also search for, and long-tail keywords, and you can just easily copy these and add them to your document.

So now just from using these 3 free keyword research methods. I haven’t even used all of them and I’ve got 2 pages full of keywords I can cover in my affiliate article.

And it’s really the exact same data that premium keyword research tools access. It’s just, you just, it’s just not as easily easy to manage. It’s not as nicely presented and you don’t get as much data, for example, you don’t get search volume data.

SEO Minion

And the next step is using SEO Minion which is another free Chrome extension.

So here we have the “affiliate marketing for beginners” that I want to target and I’m going to turn on SEO Minion, then click “Analyze on-page SEO” and this is going to give me a bunch of data about the page, including all of their sub-headings, all of their, their headings and subheadings.

So I can just say show all headings and I’ve got all the rage to all the rage.

And what’s cool about SEO Minion is I can also download all of this data and then upload this CSV export.

So this is one way that you can spy on your competitors and see exactly what keywords your competitors are using and create a list of them that you can then use in your article.

UberSuggest

Next, you can check search volumes and find more keywords with UberSuggest which is a freemium keyword research tool.

Let’s say the main keyword I’m planning to target. Is “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners”.

And then a secondary keyword I’m going to be targeting is “how to start affiliate marketing”.

And the third variation of this keyword I’m targeting is “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners”.

Now I want to know what the search volume of all of these keyword variations is. So I’m going to go to UberSuggest.

💡 Note

If you’re just using UberSuggest for keyword research make sure that you use it sparingly because you only get 3 searches a day and then you have to wait until the next day. So only use this for things that you really want to know the search volume of.

So as you can see in the United States, this long-tail keyword gets 110 search volume a month and has an approximate SEO difficulty of 61 out of 100.

However when I just check on “how to start affiliate marketing”, you can see this has much more search volume.

So if I managed to rank for “how to start affiliate marketing” and “how to start affiliate marketing for beginners”, that’s going to be over 3000 monthly searches.

And then if I do “affiliate marketing for beginners”, it has another 2,900 monthly searches.

So if I can rank for all 3 of those keywords, that’s just going to be a massive amount of top of the funnel traffic which could be a real business-altering type of thing to rank for.

Then that’s the power of SEO is that if you do it well. It can bring you a lot of traffic and potentially a lot of income pretty quickly.
